Soft Mute & Push to Talk

Featured Replies

I'm really enjoying my flights lately, using VoxATC and FS2Crew. My problem is that I use my number 2 button on my joystick to push to talk with VoxATC. In order to avoid FS2Crew from reacting to anything I say while speaking VoxATC, I have to hit the hard mute button, because I have no way of assigning the same number 2 button to soft must. The idea is that if I push the number 2 button, I would like it to soft must FS2Crew while at the same time I'm actually speaking to VoxATC, and when I release the number 2 button, I would like to finish my transmission with VoxATC, and at the same time deactivate soft mute, so that I can continue to speak to my co-pilot. Is there any way to assign this button to both actions?

By the way, if I try to assign a key button to soft mute on my keyboard, it doesn't mute. The mute "M" letter comes up and quickly disappears.

Hi John,

You need to set the repeat slider to full right in the Controls menu.

Why can't you assign button 2 to soft mute?

It's not that I can't assign it, it's just that it's conflicting with VoxATC to push and talk. However, you just brought a good point in your response by saying that I need to set the repeat slider to full right. I have it to full left, and that might be why it doesn't mute when I am trying to push the number 2 button to talk to ATC. I'll give it a try and see if that does the trick.

Just assign soft mute and talk to vox atc to the same button? :)

Hey Bryan, the moving the slider to full right did the trick. Now I'm able to press one button to talk to ATC and soft mute FS2Crew at the same time. SWEET! B)

Well, I'm having another issue with the push to talk. It works fine when flying the J41 while using FS2Crew, but when I push to talk to speak to VoxATC, which still works fine in other aircrafts, however, the joystick assignment is interfering with the prop sync functions on aircrafts such as the Flight1 Super King Air B200, and the RealAir Turbo Duke.

So, would it be possible to map the soft key to a control function that it's not in use, such as wing fold? I tried assign the joystick button I use to push and talk, to the wing fold, but it did not soft mute FS2Crew. Or can FS2Crew functions such as soft mute be mapped with FSUIPC?

Use FSIPC select keyboard  space key and assign it to toggle prop sync. Now your joystick button is set to push to talk (space bar ) and that activates the soft mute in FS2CREW
