VFR Scenery for Jersey (Channel Islands)

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if VFR Scenery is available for Jersey (in the Channel Islands). It appears that Playsims do Alderney, Guernsey, Scilly Isles & Isle of Man, but not Jersey.... which seems strange? I particularly want Jersey but can't find it anywhere!

Hi Derek

The islands you have mentioned there are all made by Earth Simulations. They were working on Jersey to finish off the Channel Islands but unfortunately they stopped trading earlier this year and have now closed down.

I don't know if anyone else is planning to release anything for Jersey though.

One thing you could try is to head over to the UK2000 website and have a look at their Jersey Xtreme airport. As far as I know it only covers the airport but the web site does have a freeware photo scenery download for the rest of the island. It's quality is fairly mixed. You can also grab the freeware version of Jersey airport from that site - nowhere near as good as the Xtreme one of course but not bad at all - and it fits nicely with the free photo scenery.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Stu

Thanks Stu. That explains why I can't find it! I'm surprised that it's not available from other producers, such as "Justflight"?

I'll take a look at the UK2000 website as that might give me some better scenery.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards,

Derek

Earth Simulations were intending to create a highly detailed version of Jersey......right up to the moment when they ceased trading :(

Unless Orbx have taken on Earth Simulations projects (and I believe there was some noise about it being under discussion, shortly after they ceased trading), your best bet* is the FTX Global, Vector, EuroLC combo (if you don't already have it), topped off with the lovely UK2000 EGJJ.

*imho, I don't "do" photo scenery

I seem to think I read somewhere a while ago that Aerosoft were doing Jersey (as I thought at the time that we would move from having no decent Jersey to having UK Xtreme, Earthsim and Aerosoft versions) but maybe I'm dreaming?

I think that Aerosoft are indeed making a Jersey airport scenery package, Bill. However, I can't imagine that it will cover the entire island.
