September 5, 20169 yr Thanks a lot for that. I will attempt to get this sideviews working ,if possible, and then take it from there. If i am not mistaken, the vc10 has 8 fixed windows..i need to double check that, and this one seem to have 6.. but 6 is way better then none lol.. Ok Lets see..never done things like that before, but im curious and also look forward to learn something new... getting fs9 again would be the easier option i guess Anyway, i will play around with that gauge thing and see if i can come up with something usebale..
September 5, 20169 yr Mac I am sure other FSX users will appreciate you posting your solutions. Well done my friend. Peter Schluter
September 5, 20169 yr Thanks Peter, im not really good in programming and stuff.. as a matter of fact, i am a very analog man that loves aviation, especially classic piston airliners, but also jets, say until the 70s... everything that has proper gauges in the flight deck, not displays basically:-) If i had the knowledge, i d attempt to give the VC10 a virtual Cockpit, rather then trying to get these oldschool 2d panels to work in fsx. i sadly dont have fs9 anymore, but only for the sake of the vc 10 i dont think i will get it again...everything else works fine on fsx, or say, everything that is of interest has a VC :-) there is the odd problem, yes, but in general it works all very well. If people can help and want to team up, in order to get the vc 10 to perfection, i will appreciate any support. So far i have not managed to show the fixed sideviews, but i keep working on it. Learning by doing (and crashing) basically. Oh yes, of course to get the VC 10 to perfection in FSX... The old Fs9 Elite is a different story...up the classic SO, to get the sidevews back, i have added these windows.. Window29=FORWARD_LEFTWindow30=FORWARD_RIGHTWindow31=LEFTWindow32=RIGHTWindow33=REAR_LEFT Basically tried to overwrite the old fokker 2d panels with the VC10s.. and also the gauges... [Window29]file=Forward_Leftd.bmpsize_mm=1280window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=10001window_size= 1.000nomenu=1 gauge00=F70100_XML_IF2!PVO_FIXED_VIEWS, 657, 912, 142, 22 [Window30]file=Forward_Rightd.bmpsize_mm=1280window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=10002window_size= 1.000nomenu=1 gauge00=F70100_XML_IF2!PVO_FIXED_VIEWS, 657, 912, 142, 22 [Window31]file=leftd.bmpsize_mm=1280window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=10003window_size= 1.000nomenu=1 gauge00=F70100_XML_IF2!PVO_FIXED_VIEWS, 657, 912, 142, 22 [Window32]file=Rightd.bmpsize_mm=1280window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=10004window_size= 1.000nomenu=1 gauge00=F70100_XML_IF2!PVO_FIXED_VIEWS, 657, 912, 142, 22 [Window33]file=Rear_Leftd.bmpsize_mm=1280window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=10005window_size= 1.000nomenu=1 gauge00=F70100_XML_IF2!PVO_FIXED_VIEWS, 247, 912, 142, 22 So, if i am right, replacing the 2d Picture from the fokker, with the 2d from the VC10, should show up the VC10 2d Panel instead.. or am i wrong there already?? any help appreciated.. Cheers Mac
September 5, 20169 yr Author If you are successful you mustn't forget to add back the gauges as well as seen in the cfg file. Also as far as a virtual cockpit is concerned that is an integral part of the model. DM didn't create a VC in his VC10 model so an entirely new model would have to be made and then a VC created within that. A countless number of photos will have to be done to get top quality gauges etc as a new VC10 model would have to be worthy of P3D or even xplane. The advantage is that an entirely new model would not be tied to DM's original so apart from getting a couple of licences for some of the gauges eg CIVA INS one could earn some money out of it? However it would not be a quick weekend job! A new VC10 is desperately needed. We have DM's which even though it is a 2d panel is still the best model. As you may know there is a payware fake/pseudo model which is in my opinion is not worthy of payware and is incorrect in just about every gauge as well. Meanwhile.... this upgrade has still a long way to go. It's not finished by any stretch of the imagination. September 6, 20169 yr I agree that it wont be a Quick Job.. Im aware that it will take a while to get things up and running.. I personally would be happy enough to have the old sideviews back also. Btw, u send me a link regarding the sdk.. Havent used it yet, but apparantly it does not work with the basic Version of fsx, which i have.. Dont See the point really in buying the Gold or whatever Edition just for the sdk.. And the additional adventures and airplanes im not really interested either to be honest.. Any way of just getting the sdk? I have not done much that goes beyond a bit of editing and painting, but im happy to help within my abbilities.. Its a great airplane, and by doing that, i might find some stuff that i could improve the constellation with.. Same Situation as with the Vc 10.. Such a great airliner, but the payware u get is not worth the money. So i fly the best Freeware i could find.. And im happy, though i Would like to Upgrade it a bit too So anyway, lets See what we can do regarding these sideviews.. I have time again today after work, then i will be more busy and wont be able to try a lot of things.. Cheers Mac I
September 7, 20169 yr So far no success.. I can See the sideviews but they are not switching back and forward when u want to look around.. Something still missing i suppose.. But as we know, its not all done in a Day.. Especially not for beginners. Anybody having any experience in this field? My understanding is.. When i can show a panel in Front of me, it must be possible to See it in the side also? I mean, manned space flight is also possible lol..

Although they might still point you to the original post someone might have done it and succeeded. Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
September 8, 20169 yr Thanks, i have forwarded the panel. Cfg already to somebody.. Also i might have another idea that i will try when i get the time to do so.. Halfway there i think.. I am getting into this Kind of stuff soon i think ;-)
September 8, 20169 yr Author Thanks, i have forwarded the panel. Cfg already to somebody.. Also i might have another idea that i will try when i get the time to do so.. Halfway there i think.. I am getting into this Kind of stuff soon i think ;-) I am thinking of doing a "very small" patch which will be an amendment to the panel.cfg and adds Cyprus to the list of ICAO regions. Also a possible change to table 1505. If you can come up with something that works for FSX re the side panels thaen I can include that. Giving credit where credit is due of course. October 23, 20169 yr Love a bit of DIY Nicholas. Surely it can't be any harder than when I used a Haynes Manual to change the oil on my Ford Cortina. Actually this reminded me the first time I changed the oil in the car. There I was, 18 years old proudly watching the oil pour out from under the engine into the catch can, but wondering why it was bright green and not at all viscous! Anyway, once I had refilled the engine with coolant, I then got round to changing the oil. Peter Schluter
November 19, 20169 yr Author Ciao Ragazzi, Here is a small update. http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=super+vc10&CatID=root&Go=Search Go down to the bottom of the page and look for Super VC10 Panel Upgrade Part 7.zip It contains some minor tweaks, additional codeshare announcements and a revamped pushback procedure. For example the PO only says "Parking brake released" when he actually releases the brakes! A little bit more intuitive one might say! To see it working I've uploaded a small video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ff0GYGi5g4 Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
January 5, 20179 yr Author A new update "Super VC10 Panel upgrade Part 8.zip" is out http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=super+vc10&CatID=root&Go=Search Some small tweaks have been made to the air files and .cfg file. In addition there is a pushback enhancement whereby the crew calls to the ground staff that the parking brake is either on or off "only" when they actually apply or release the parking brake. When the passenger and galley doors are open you will now hear ambient passenger sounds. No fake sounds here as they are from inside a real VC10. And there is a First Officer to help you out. I did think of asking one of the Pyongyang Traffic ladies but unfortunately they are not allowed to travel.
