August 22, 20169 yr Author Nicholas Trying to get to grips with fuel tranfer. I notice if I select tank 1/1A fuel transfer valve to open, engine 1 dies. Same for tank 4/4A valve and engine 4 ? But it does not cause the engine to shut down if I first open tank 1&2 fuel transfer valves to allow fuel transfer from centre tank ( which auto opens the 1/1A transfer valve ) Same for 3&4 Yes it's an oddity of the coding. I had to disable the sim default of "all" tanks when the sim starts up. Also if the centre tank has no fuel all the engines will die if you try to transfer (though in that case if you are transferring fuel from the centre tank and it runs dry in the process I built in an auto cut-off). There is a bit more work needed as it is not 100% correct. Sorry for that. However your workaround is fine. I did for a long time try out coding for each individual tank. It was a lot of work and I couldn't get the fuel uplift and jettison to work properly so in the end I went back to DM's "single" tank principle. That's not to say that I won't revisit that idea as I may do. The sim empties the tanks in a certain order and that has to be overriden. August 22, 20169 yr Thanks for the explanation and certainly no need to apologise. It is great to have to manage the fuel properly. Peter Schluter
August 25, 20169 yr Did first proper flight EGLL-LLBG. I started centre tank feeding once established in the climb. I had 1 tonne of fuel in the fin as per the spreadsheet and left it a bit late to transfer this so used the fast transfer valve. Navigation was a breeze as I am very used to the CIVA units. Great fun, thanks again Nicholas Peter Schluter

Especially as DMs original model good though it was (excluding the engine parameters), was basically like getting into a car and driving off. Great for the casual simmer but not very realistic. August 25, 20169 yr Is there a virtual cockpit? I fly solely in VR now and can't use 2D Panels :-( Jay
August 25, 20169 yr Author Is there a virtual cockpit? I fly solely in VR now and can't use 2D Panels :-( Jay No sorry. A virtual cockpit requires a completely new model and that will take a while. Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
August 26, 20169 yr Author Just completed a long flight (a rare occasion for me!) from LCLK Larnaca to LIMF Turin with PF3 ATC. A very smooth flight with nothing unexpected. I had to have 5 ADEU cards for the INS however. That's why I added the ADEU readers because nowadays there are so many GPS fixes that you would be permanently updating the CDUs. August 26, 20169 yr the vc10 is going into the hangar for a week as I am off on hols. Will do some more flights with pics on my return. Peter Schluter
August 27, 20169 yr Author Have a nice break. For others who are unfortunately still at work a reminder that the fuel transfer system does work even though it is a bit of a compromise as it was necessarily set up to avoid Microsoft's arbitary "all tanks" selected when the aircraft loads. And, that after a lot of work I went back to the principal of DMs "large tank array". Reason being the order in which MS takes fuel from each tank. That said I will revisit the problem. For now, there is an auto cut-off during centre tank transfer so when that is complete all the switches return to the off position. The way the fuel flow is set up means that when the centre tank is empty fuel transfer is not necessary. When you want to start the transfer process remember to throw the switches from the centre outwards on both sides this avoids the little bug of shutting down an engine by selecting instead transfer from tanks 1A and/or 4A first. The "never ending story" continues as I am now compiling flow charts for the electrical buses so that if/when a specific generator fails I know which instruments, components and control surfaces are affected. Unfortunately because of the VC10's split system method this is quite complex. Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
August 31, 20169 yr Ciao vololiberista, I have been a vc10 Fan for years and, after using the DM vc10 for a long time i came across your update. Wow.. You are a magician.. So impressive.. What can i say. This is really a great Job on what seems to be a bit neglected in the fs World.. I have installed your update as per instruction, and have not done much yet.. However i have noticed that the panel is smaller then my screen, at the bottom is a big black area, usually all 2d panels are fitting the screen.. If i try to drag and extend the window, fsx will Crash.. Also it says that fsda switch ( is it called fsda?) is not supported anymore since it is fs98 or ssomething like that.. I dont have fs9 anymore.. Unfortunately Is there any way i can bring the Cockpit in Proportion to my wide screen Monitor.. The original panel fits perfect, although it seems it Shows only 3 firehandles, and your panel already Shows Part of the F/o Instrumentation... Just to know if i have done some Bullocks during the Installation or if that all is sort of a portover thing with fsx.. Apoligies, im not very good with computer stuff i have to admit Any help / Tips more then welcome.. This is a jewel, just looks Micro at the Moment on my screen ;-) Cheers Mac
September 1, 20169 yr Author It sounds as though you need to change the screen resolution in the sim. Which is what I had to do for FS9. The panel is physically a wide screen shape. I added a more on the left and more on the right. The actual bmp dimensions are 1556x976. If you try a 15:9 screen format for your windows and sim that might help. I know there is a problem with the pushback gauge. If you look back to post 130 of this thread there is a solution for that. Many thanks for your kind words. I agree the 10 is a much neglected model in the sim world. And DMs model is still the only one worth having. September 1, 20169 yr Thanks a lot for the Tip regarding the screen.. I will See if im able to fix that.. The other error i mentioned is : Andreas jaros -fpda switch gau was designed for fs98 or earlier, and is not supported anymore.. Ive looked into Post 130 as u suggested but that was not it.. Maybe fsx only Problem.. Thanks Mac

Though I don't recommend opening a window in flight! I'm surprised it doesn't work because it's a bog standard .gau gauge. I'll have to change it. It will eventually be superceded by the airconditioning panel though. Which only consists of 62 gauges switches and lights!!! September 1, 20169 yr Thanks for coming back to me.... Dont worry about aircon, i can borrow one of the Rubber Ventilators from the tupolev 154 B-) Regarding the screen i could not solve the issue,no matter what screen solutions i choose.. And stretching it down cause fsx to Crash.. So i can also pull the 2d panel down and fill the gap on top with overhead panels :-) Cheers Mac
