New Super VC10 Panel Upgrade

It may be something to do with the sim itself accepting only certain resolutions. However, pulling the image down aka. a blind should not crash the sim. I've never heard of that before. Are you doing it in full screen or windowed mode? Or is it an issue with your version of Windows.

One option that might work is to make it your default flight. So that it loads with the game so to speak.

Thanks for any advice..

I think i have not explained well enough.. I can click on the 2d Instrument panel and can drag it down fine, to Cover the Black area on the bottom.. To the left and right the Instrument panel fits the screen.. Must have something to do with the proportion maybe..

Crash only happens if i try to stretch the Instrument panel upwards, even a sight touch cause fsx to Crash.. Any other 2panel, e.g.overhead or oxygen, can stretch to change its size on the screen, no Problem, only Main Instrument panel will Crash..

I have win10 64 running, no Problems like that with any other plane..

I might have to do some Screenshots or so to give a proper idea of what is happening..

Thanks

Mac

PS i was running in full Mode, might try in window Mode and See what happens..

Cheers

Are you sure you are dragging the "instrument panel" upwards and not the scenery? The panel is set for x,y 0,0 i.e. the top left corner of the screen. I presume you are using a wide screen monitor as in a 4:3 monitor it would appear in the centre.

If you have another "main" 2d panel that fits ok then tell me the proportions and I'll see if I can adjust it.

Win 10 though seems to have more problems than not regarding flightsim sofware.

You can also try this

[Window00]
file=main_NEW.bmp
size_mm=1300
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=0
visible=1
ident=0
render_3d_window=0
window_size= 1.000, 1.130
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

Go into the panel.cfg file and change position=7 to position=0 as shown above. Position 7 is the default value. This dates from when FS9 was configured for 4:3 format screens.

Ok.. So that Position change to =0 did nothing.. What i did next was the following : i took the original DM ppanel, installed it as panel.old And loaded the plane.. Fits the screen perfect and looks really hughe now :-)

The gearlever is now right at the edge of my screen to the right and to the left i can just See the "M" from that registration placard.. That must be then because your panel is wider i assume... To the left of that black placard u have nose wheel steering pillar etc,usually the panel ends before that.

If there is now a solution or not... Im not sure.. Kind of nice to See 4 firehandles i admit.. Maybe u could trijet panels from now on? For widescreen Users? Lol just kidding..

I guess i play around a bit and See if i can find something that Works Out..

Or go back to the sixties with the original panel.. But i Would miss all the upgrades too much i reckon..

No money for a different screen either at the Moment so that idea is Out of question.. Maybe a virtual Cockpit.. Dream

I See if i can figure something Out..

Really love your work though .. Keep it up my man, great Job, i love this plane ( and my connie that i also fly.. In VC only ;-)

Cheers

I just did a test ride with the original DM panel.. Went ok, i can stretch that panel without any crashes, also the old panel comes up imidately when selected, if i have your panel i have black screen for approx 10 seconds before the panel Shows.. Lots of strange things.. I reduced the old dm panel on the right and left a good bit ( as if there would be your additional pieces on it, and the Instruments still looked ok to me, so i think it will look fine if just brought into the right proportion.. Anyway, i play around again when i have time..

Thanks

There's something amiss either with your monitor settings, your videocard settings, your sim settings or a combination of. The only difference between my panel and Dm's is that it is a bit wider. So therefore if you have a widescreen configuration then all should be well. On ocassion you may have to pull the panel down like a blind but that is all. Crashing the sim by adjusting panel size has never happned to me. And I've been working on it for a long time. The widescreen panel was in fact one of the first things I did.

I'm sorry that you don't seem able to get it working but keep trying as others have not reported this problem. I wouldn't mind betting it's to do with Windows 10.

As you say the new panel is essential as it contains some important gauges.

The only other thing I can think of is your docking settings.

Can you click and hold the mouse over the combing and move the panel vertically?

If not then you need to uncheck the docking in win10 and or fsuipc. Also try making a copy of your sim cfg file, eleting the original and getting the sim to recreate a new cfg file. If you still have the problem then it is a win 10 settings problem.

Thanks for your Help My man, i really appappreciate it. However, nothing has worked. Then, more in an act of desperation, i have copied the complete settings from an older panel and the size was right, but the Instruments itself were Out of align with the panel.. After a bit more of trying, i got It.. It Works. The cocomplete panel stretches now to fight my screen.. Awesome

Feels totally different now as all is almost Double the size :-)

Thanks for your Support.

Mac

One could guess by my bad spelling that it was late ;-)

Anyway, the basics are working now which is the main thing..

The thing you have to remember is that there are a number of "invisible" gauges embedded in the main panel so if you use another panel they won't be present. So a lot of important stuff won't work.

Thanks, i am aware of that.. All I did was using different measurements and replaced them under the "window 0" section.. I will just Paste that in here later, it will mean more to you then it does to me.. Anyway, im happy to have it all in the right screen size for now.. I keep u updated and maybe other Users might Profit from this later.

Cheers

I am using FS9.1  My monitor resolution is 1920*1080. FS9 set to the same. I simply stretch the bottom of the panel to fill the black space after I have loaded the aircraft. Works just fine for me.

I do that too but on one of the a/c it works fine always.

Well if it had worked for me i would have done it too .-) but it caused fsx to crash. with the new settings it works perfect and has the right size.

Here is what works for me:

[Window00]
file=main_NEW.bmp
size_mm=1300
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=7
visible=1
ident=0
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

FS9 was just a more stable platform in my personal experience. And i miss the fixed sideviews from the vc10, another item that fsx does not support anymore. Looks a bit "naked" when u look around just. Maybe possible to get some basic vc from somehwere else..?

Vololiberista, i might have a few more questions for you.. but first i will study the manual again to make sure i havent missed out something essential there :-)

which could happen sometimes

cheers

Yes changing that does seem to work. So you should be fine. As for the side views you might get lucky here

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/2d-cockpit-side-views.266190/

As you are correct in that FSX assumes a Virtual cockpit. Without the side views you will miss out on the marshaller and tiller on the left and on the right the firebell test button and PO's tiller.

Happy to answer questions that are answerable lol
