Does my performance under P3D 2.5 seem normal to everyone else?  First off, the specs

i7 4790K stock @4.4ghz

Titan X (upgraded from 780Ti, and not a single improvement in P3D, which has me concerned)

16gb 1600mhz memory

Everything (including photoscenery) on a dedicated P3D SSD drive.

I'm the type that runs nothing but MSE V2 photoscenery with NO autogen and low scenery complexity (bare minimum airport scenery etc) I'd rather have great performance at the expense of fancy addon airports at this point.

My main aircraft in the sim are A2A 182, and Majestic Q400, both of which are wonderful performers.

Worth noting I run a 27" monitor at 1440p.  I've even upgraded to a G-Sync 1440p, 144hz monitor to even further increase the smoothness of the sim which will be arriving this coming Tuesday.

With that said, and running the sim without any extra addons besides photoscenery and A2A/Q400 aircraft, shouldn't I be seeing a bit more than 60 FPS?  I have no doubt once I add in AS Next it'll come down even further.  For me, it is no longer smooth without maintaining at least 60/or using V-Sync.  Anything else causes stutters, and since we can't use the 1/2 vsync tweak this is my only option.  Shouldn't the upgrade from the 780Ti to Titan X have helped a LITTLE bit?!  Also find it strange, that for the most part, adjusting settings in the display tab of P3d makes little to no difference.  2x AA, 4x AA, FXAA on/off, nothing seems to make much of a difference.

I'm happy with the sim at this point, but a bit discouraging to see no improvement when going to a Titan X.  I cringe at the thought of using a complex addon like the PMDG NGX or T7.  I'm beginning to wonder if I'm missing something, or should delve into some tweaks.  Anyone else with a Titan X not notice any improvement?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ty

I'm wondering why you want to see more than 60 FPS?

Find the settings that give you the LOWEST FPS with the SMOOTHEST operation. Wasted FPS (anything more than the lowest smooth figure) cost you. If your figure is 60fps - something is terribly wrong with your setup.

My concern is smoothness, and without V-Sync at 60fps I get stutters.  I've found, unless I'm at a locked 60fps I don't get a smooth experience.  With FSX, 1/2vsync tweak at 30 was more than ample, as it was smooth.  Not the case for P3D, unless something has changed while I was gone.  Second concern is the fact that no matter what I adjust, I can't manage any improvements in performance.  With the sim running in such a simple state (no autogen, no extra scenery, simple photoscenery) I'd imagine it would have the potential to maintain a higher frame rate.  Not even an upgrade to a Titan X made a noticeable difference.

I will say again, I'm happy as I'm able to achieve my 60fps, though I don't have a lot of headroom and it's discouraging to see no improvements with higher end hardware.  If I were to attempt the NGX or T7, I'd most certainly go back to the stutter zone.  Perhaps when the G-Sync monitor arrives things will be different.

Thanks for the input.

if you get stutters at less than 60fps - something is not set right. What happens if you just let P3D build a fresh cfg file, delete the shaders folder and use no tweaks other than possibly affinity mask.

Perhaps it has something do do with lots of photo scenery.

The stutters seem to be caused by lack of V-sync, or any FPS below my monitors refresh rate (60 in my case) which is what motivated me to try G-Sync out.  I'll keep playing around with things, though I just yesterday reinstalled P3D and haven't added any tweaks, only software installed is the scenery and A2A 182.

Optimistic that come Tuesday, when the new monitor arrives, that this will no longer be an issue!
