  1. Would anyone be kind enough to post a video of the start-up by chance? Interested in this bird, but would love to see some actual footage first. Thanks!
  2. So any word on the other products, mainly the non Turbine Duke and Legacy? As someone else mentioned, its been showing as "Soon" for almost a year now. Greatly looking foward to the other two aircraft arriving for P3d V3!
  3. The stutters seem to be caused by lack of V-sync, or any FPS below my monitors refresh rate (60 in my case) which is what motivated me to try G-Sync out. I'll keep playing around with things, though I just yesterday reinstalled P3D and haven't added any tweaks, only software installed is the scenery and A2A 182. Optimistic that come Tuesday, when the new monitor arrives, that this will no longer be an issue!
  4. My concern is smoothness, and without V-Sync at 60fps I get stutters. I've found, unless I'm at a locked 60fps I don't get a smooth experience. With FSX, 1/2vsync tweak at 30 was more than ample, as it was smooth. Not the case for P3D, unless something has changed while I was gone. Second concern is the fact that no matter what I adjust, I can't manage any improvements in performance. With the sim running in such a simple state (no autogen, no extra scenery, simple photoscenery) I'd imagine it would have the potential to maintain a higher frame rate. Not even an upgrade to a Titan X made a noticeable difference. I will say again, I'm happy as I'm able to achieve my 60fps, though I don't have a lot of headroom and it's discouraging to see no improvements with higher end hardware. If I were to attempt the NGX or T7, I'd most certainly go back to the stutter zone. Perhaps when the G-Sync monitor arrives things will be different. Thanks for the input.
  5. Does my performance under P3D 2.5 seem normal to everyone else? First off, the specs i7 4790K stock @4.4ghz Titan X (upgraded from 780Ti, and not a single improvement in P3D, which has me concerned) 16gb 1600mhz memory Everything (including photoscenery) on a dedicated P3D SSD drive. I'm the type that runs nothing but MSE V2 photoscenery with NO autogen and low scenery complexity (bare minimum airport scenery etc) I'd rather have great performance at the expense of fancy addon airports at this point. My main aircraft in the sim are A2A 182, and Majestic Q400, both of which are wonderful performers. Worth noting I run a 27" monitor at 1440p. I've even upgraded to a G-Sync 1440p, 144hz monitor to even further increase the smoothness of the sim which will be arriving this coming Tuesday. With that said, and running the sim without any extra addons besides photoscenery and A2A/Q400 aircraft, shouldn't I be seeing a bit more than 60 FPS? I have no doubt once I add in AS Next it'll come down even further. For me, it is no longer smooth without maintaining at least 60/or using V-Sync. Anything else causes stutters, and since we can't use the 1/2 vsync tweak this is my only option. Shouldn't the upgrade from the 780Ti to Titan X have helped a LITTLE bit?! Also find it strange, that for the most part, adjusting settings in the display tab of P3d makes little to no difference. 2x AA, 4x AA, FXAA on/off, nothing seems to make much of a difference. I'm happy with the sim at this point, but a bit discouraging to see no improvement when going to a Titan X. I cringe at the thought of using a complex addon like the PMDG NGX or T7. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm missing something, or should delve into some tweaks. Anyone else with a Titan X not notice any improvement? Any suggestions? Thanks, Ty
  6. Excellent new! Took a gamble and ordered the ASUS ROG Swift. I'll be moving from an ASUS 1440P IPS panel to the Swift, so I'd imagine I'll be downgrading in image quality - but hope G-Sync and 144hz outweigh that. I looked into the Acer, and depending on my impressions on the new Swift (arriving tomorrow, Amazon ftw!) I may return the Switft and grab the Acer. Both seem to have there fair share of quality control issues, so we'll see how things pan out. My biggest complaint with P3D thus far has been the v-sync stutter, so it'll be a great day if G-Sync solves this for me!! Side note, I'm curious how quickly ASUS will be releasing the new 27" IPS swift that was just announced, and what the price will be. I may actually return the Swift that's en-route and wait for the IPS version if it'll be releasing fairly quickly! Was very tempted to jump up to 4K, but I'm just not prepared to deal with the performance hit yet, and 1440 has been great for me thus far. I'm only running a single Titan X, and can't justify adding another just to get reasonable performance on a 4K screen. Another side note, the 980Ti released 4 days after my Titan X arrived.. ugh, could've purchased two of them for darn near the same price as the Titan. Too late at this point, as I've already installed my water block and have it up and running. Enough rambling, I appreciate the feedback on G-Sync!
  7. CUrious to know if it is indeed working for P3D now. I've held off buying a G-Sync monitor as it doesn't support windowed mode until now. If you can confirm it is now working, I'll probably get one ordered soon!
  8. For me? Seeings as I live and fly out of Bozeman, MT, then it'd have to be Orbx KBZN! Busiest airport in Montana, with the main runway long enough to accommodate about any type of aircraft.
  9. Yes, the PMDG NGX includes the FCOM volume 1 and 2, FCTM, and QRH, plus two fantastic tutorials. The manuals cover the entire 737 next gen fleet. If you have any interest in learning to fly the B737, then the NGX is far and away one of the best 737NG simulations ever created for flight sim.
  10. Thanks for clarifying Ryan, that actually makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't want to give up the HGS permanently in exchange for fixing the windscreen dimensions, but as Alan stated, perhaps giving one the option to choose would be a good compromise? Though I can imagine the headache that may cause, and would understand if that isn't an option. Either way, I appreciate you taking the time to explain.
  11. I have no doubt that it's not an easy fix, and I understand the workload for PMDG is immense (especially after a new release such as the T7). I'm just hoping they don't continue moving forward with the cycle of new products, followed by new service packs, all the while leaving the NGX in the rear view. At the rate PMDG moves forward, I have to wonder if they'll ever find the time to go back to the NGX. They're the upper echelon of FS developers, and it seems strange to leave such an error after 3 years. It just isn't something one would expect from PMDG, that's all. Regardless, it does NOT keep me from enjoying the NGX, it's still a masterpiece, and one in which I'll fly for many years to come. I've said it many times, but we're a lucky bunch to have developers like PMDG creating such detailed products, and for that I'll be forever grateful.
  12. +1, can't understand why such an error wouldn't be fixed after 3 years.
  13. Wonderful news, bit the bullet and picked up AS Next and the 777. I've been a NGX diehard since release, but think it's finally time to move up to the T7 (though I doubt I'll ever quit flying the NG). I can only hope they revisit the NGX and give it the treatment the T7 is receiving! We simmers sure are a lucky bunch eh?
  14. Ah, fantastic news! The reply I received said they had no idea if/when they'd have the printed manuals available again. Glad you got a more difinitive answer Going to jump at them the next time they're available.
  15. I feel similarly regarding SP2 for the NGX. How many years has it been since release? That was the flagship product for this new generation of PMDG addons, and it still has a things needing fixing. It feels as though they just move forward with new projects and call the old ones "good enough." I just hope that doesn't happen with the T7 as well. I know I'll catch flack, but just expressing how I feel about it. It's a bit frustrating, but I mean no disrespect to PMDG and appreciate everything they do to for our hobby. Honestly were lucky to have a developer like them, just wish things could move at a slightly faster pace
  16. As sad as it is to say, it drives me crazy too ha! Such a fantastic peice of software, beings as it's PMDGs flagship for the new generation of addons, I'm surprised that they wouldn't push a hotfix out to fix that issue. Here's hoping once they've got the SP for the T7 out of the way, they can get that bit fixed.
  17. +1 on the turn coordinator, that's one of the few things I think MUST be fixed. Especially on an aircraft that's marketed as a RW trainer AND entertainment product. Not so important in real world flying, as you learn to "feel" uncoordinated flight, but in FSX theres no seat of the pants feel... so this is a fairly important thing to fix I'm happy they're releasing an update that adds the P-factor and torque though, that will be a welcomed addition! I will say, I find the FM pretty nice, though I'm using a PFC yoke (I will add, if you're a serious flight simmer/RW pilot, consider investing in one!) We spend so much money on addons, but seldom spend the money on higher end controls. I may hook up my old Saitek yoke and give it a test, I'm sure that plays a role in the issues people are having with control sensitivity. I never did have an enjoyable experience with the plastic Saitek/CH yokes, especially when practicing IFR prodedures, making fine coorecitons with the Saitek was a losing battle ha! Anyway, a GREAT release even considering the problems, and have no doubt A2A will continue to fix the issues until (most) everyone is happy!
  18. I'm pretty sure they planned to release dev vid #3 AFTER releasing the 172. Believe it mentions that on dev vid #2.
  19. If you zoom in the volume increases, this was a feature that Majestic thought would be more realistic. A good idea in theroy, but they're aware more people dislike it than not. Last I heard they intend on disabling this "feature" and having constant volume regardless of zoom.
  20. I'm very excited for PFPX! Been waiting (impatiently) for it for quite some time now. It'll should really change flight planning for the better with aircraft like the NGX.
  21. Thanks again guys, also, thank you Michael. I'm in the process of installing REX Essentials + OD, mostly just wanted the textures, but we'll see how the weather engine works. My intent it to use REX for textures, and AS2012 for weather engine/flight planning. Sounds like AS2012 is stil the best bet if flying tubeliners like the NGX.
  22. Thanks for everyones input, I'm still undecided between OPUS and AS2012. If I understand this correctly, OPUS, while injecting realistic winds aloft data, does not enable you to see what the forecast winds are for individual waypoints? Sounds like AS2012 does show you winds aloft per waypoint? So in the real world, if an NG pilot wanted to enter winds aloft data for every waypoint in the flight plan, how would they obtain that information? Dispatch? Is it even realistic to have that information available and enter it for EVERY waypoint? Niether program causes the dreaded S-turns for the NGX though, correct?
  23. I like the theory, but I use locked spot view zoomed out to .50 and then move camera towards aircraft with cntrl +. This gives much sharper textures for the terrain, with this method it doesn't get loud enough. Going back to the classic fixed volume would be the best solution. Thank you for taking the time to respond. This is the best turboprop for FSX period.
  24. Nevermind, found a similar topic a couple pages back... Sounds as though I'm not the only one dissapointed with the external sounds. Still no input from the devs on this? I honestly love the aircraft, but all these little issues are starting to add up, I know they'll be fixed in time, but it's slowly starting to get to me.
  25. I've posted in the official forum, but haven't had much luck, perhaps someone here knows how to increase the external engine volume? It is nearly silent, and like someone else said, almost as if you're wearing ear plugs. The sounds are one of the better features of this addon, and would love to resolve the external sounds issue. If anyone has managed to rectify this problem, let me know! If not, are the devs aware that there's an issue? I can't imagine it's supposed to be like this...
