July 11, 201510 yr I have a Scenery CFG problem "scenery.cfg file error. Invalid remote scenery path in scenery area 125. Click OK to continue." When I open the scenery cfg file with Nutepad, theer is no Title= path. I understand that one way to fix this is to install the Scenery Config Editor. I downloaded the laterst version I could find (1.1.3), but it won't install. When I try I get errors stating that it is unable to open the files that need to be installed. Has anyone else found this? July 12, 201510 yr You need to install Java. The program requires Java. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! July 12, 201510 yr Author I updated my Java, but no joy on the install of the config editor. Bob Zolto
July 12, 201510 yr Scrap that program and use Notepad. Make sure you are editing the correct scenery.cfg located at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX Look for [Area.125] and remove the remote= line. cheers, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
July 12, 201510 yr There you go! Another solution! It's strange you cannot install Scenery Config Editor though. Of course you have UAC disabled and your anti-virus program (if any) is not running, and you are running the install program as the Administrator. Strange that it installs on many systems and not all. I've heard of others having problems installing it too. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! July 12, 201510 yr Author What olther solution? There are no remote= lines on any of my Scenery CFG entries. There is no local= line in area 125. Bob Zolto
July 12, 201510 yr Here are my entries for show and tell. If there is no local= entry, it means the scenery is no longer there. See my entries? The Local line goes to where the scenery is located on my computer. So, if you do not have a local line, it indicates the scenery was removed. You might have uninstalled the scenery. There is no developer capable of removing their entry in the scenery.cfg when you uninstall their software. Some software makers will backup your scenery.cfg with an entry like scenery.cfg_before_Addon_Manager or something like that. So, when you uninstall their scenery, you can go in and delete your scenery.cfg and rename the scenery.cfg_before_Addon_Manager to scenery.cfg. But this is not recommended and you should manually fix your scenery.cfg instead. So, you will get this error forever until you delete the entry manually or by using the Scenery Config Editor (which deletes any scenery entry that is not found on your computer and renumbers the Area and Layer Numbers in a matter of seconds). If you do not have Area 125 in your scenery.cfg anymore, it will not harm anything. July 12, 201510 yr Author OK. In my Scenery LIbrary in FSX there was an entry Add on Scenery. All of my add ons are listed separately and enabled. I disabled the add on scenery entry in scener.cfg and the error messages disappeared. Is there a reason to have the add on scenery entry enable in the library? Bob Zolto
July 12, 201510 yr Author After at last a dozen tries to install the Scenery Config Editor, a fourth download and another try finally worked. I ran it, it found no errors. I wa still getting the original error on the remote scenery area 125. I deleted the area and then wrote it back into the scenery cfg file, adding a local= line that wasn't there before. Everything now seems to be working without errors. Thanks for all your help. Bob Zolto
