Problem with slew mode

Featured Replies

This mode does not work for me. As soon as I press Y to enter slew mode the plane start turning in the horizental plane and no commands like 5 to freeze all movement helps. Neither 3 which should make the plane turn in the opposite direction. The arrowkeys moves the plane but left or right but it still turns around.

I have dealt with the same thing in the past. It is normally caused by a joystick/yoke that is not remaining in a totally neutral signal position. Little signal spikes apparently leak out and cause the erratic behavior in slew mode.Temporarily disabling the joystick will allow slew mode to function properly. I believe Ctrl+K is the default setting to turn on/off the joystick (you can check your Controls-Assignments-Buttons/Keys and see if that is true for your setup and/or assign a command of your choice). The other option to temporarily turn off the joystick is with FS9 running under OptionsControlsDisable Joystick. Then use the slew command. Just remember to turn the joystick function back on after you are finished with slew.(note: in addition to the above info, some systems also require the Num Lock key to be off for the slew commands to function properly)Hope that helps you out. It sounds almost as if your controller got remapped to slew. A longshot--rename fs9.cfg to fs9.old, and the sim will rebuilt it when you launch a session. It will reset the sim to its defaults, but at least it will tell you if it's a mapping issue. If it isn't, you can restore the fs9.old and look for (and hopefully find) another solution.-John

Hi,Go to Options/Controls/Assignments and look at the Axis tab. Select your first controller, and click the Slew button. Clear any entries that might turn you in circles. Select another controller, click the Slew button and clear any suspect entries. Repeat for any other controllers.I actually cleared ALL entries, and use the keyboard for slew.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Yes precisely that was needed to have working slew mode.Thank you.

I have my slew commands altered but I also deleted all the joystick controls for slew mode commands .

Don't touch the joystick until FS9 fully loads. Moving the Joystick or placing your hand on it while FS9 is loading can cause this.Joe W.

Hi!Disable all the settings (Slew mode) of you joystick cfg in FS9.

Yeah I had this problem once after a reinstall. I just re-calibrated the stick and rebuilt my fs9.cfg to be sure. All worked fine after that.

hit the space bar and the plane will stop spinning and orient itself due north (360 deg) You can then use the key pad to move it around as needed.Eric
