Prepar3d and FSX on same drive

Featured Replies

Hi,

I think I'm slowly growing to idea of purchasing prepar and switch from Fsx. Currently I have fsx installed on nice SSD drive. My question is: can I install prepar on the same drive and erase fsx later or will there be any conflict.

No conflict, I had them on the same drive for some time.

Just a hint: There is rumor a new version 3.0 of Prepar3d being released in the near future. Although nothing has been officially announced yet, customers of version 2.x are expected to have to pay again for 3.0. Thus it might be wise to wait a few days/weeks until the dust settles.

Kind regards, Michael

Just a thought, I know that most folks seem to port their scenery in FSX to P3D but I'm wondering if its not possible to hold a full FSX and just use the library system to have P3D read the FSX scenery addons so that you only need one copy of the addon.

Rumors. Any experience on how long such rumors can last? For example when pmdg drops one it takes years to mature :-)

You can make the P3Dv2 library scenery.cfg use your FSX scenery addon folders, it is simply a matter of putting in the folder paths.

There are a few caviats like older FSX afcad taxiways not showing in P3Dv2 (which can be fixed with ADE) and FS9 scenery objects which work in FSX but do not display in P3Dv2.

I have my addon scenery on a separate drive, FSX and P3D are on another drive, sharing the same addon scenery, no duplicates needed.
