november 30, date of release of NTTR Nevada Open Alpha

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2571277&postcount=4
Dear all,

As we prepare for the launch DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range Open Alpha Map, I wanted to inform you how the product will be released in order to avoid confusion on the launch day (shooting for November 30th, 2015).

When you purchase and download the new map, you will essentially be installing a new, stand-alone build. This unique Open Alpha build will consist of DCS World 2.0 and the Nevada map. All modules will install within the Nevada map Open Alpha as they do with the release and Open Beta versions.

The current release version and Open Beta will stay intact.

Once the Nevada map exits the Alpha stage, it and DCS World 2.0 will be merged into the stable, release version of DCS World or the Open Beta (TBD).

Thanks

Why the need for a separate, stand-alone build you ask? Because at this time the Nevada map and the Black Sea map use two different evolutions of the terrain engine (T4 for Nevada and T3 for the Black Sea). We are still in the process of converting the Black Sea map to T4 which will allow both maps to co-exist in the same DCS version. In order to release Nevada this month, we needed to create a separate version.

The current release version and Open Beta will stay intact.

Once the Nevada map exits the Alpha stage, it and DCS World 2.0 will be merged into the stable, release version of DCS World or the Open Beta (TBD).

A few weeks after release of the Nevada Open Alpha and we've had a chance to squash the most ugly bugs, we will then release a version for Steam.

I've already got it - looking forward for calendr day 30/11/2015 :-)

DCS has become a reference in terms of flight simulation, it's a growing platform, very well supported, already 64 bit and DX11, so, all recipes for making it a success.

The video looks great,  the Airport looks amazing, a living breathing world.  Plenty of activity going on there.  I have most of the Modules for DCS,  only installed it again last night on Steam.

Not far away now

EDGE is already installed here ( took 4 hrs! ) but NTTR is far from that - I'm getting as low as 12 kbps...

Will wait for the weekend...

Yes, it's a module I will certainly try to buy. Have been following their project for quite a while - looks very good!

We don't have helicopters in any other sim like in DCS ...

Yes, it may have some similarities with X-Plane, but they all vanish when you start looking at the flight dynamics... where X-Plane, or any other sim ( with a remarkable exception to IL-2 BoS ) are far from it's level of quality, accuracy, plausibility...

Really looking forward to the map expansion and improved lighting engine, although SweetFx does a nice job if set up correctly.

***Update***

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2891147#post2891147

A key part of bringing the NTTR map out of early access is fleshing out the number of airfields, towns, and landmarks. As for the airfields, we are adding several new military and civilian locations to operate from:

  • Tonopah Test and Training Range (TTR) Airfield
  • Pahute Mesa Airstrip
  • Mellan Airstrip
  • Mina Airstrip
  • Tonopah Airport
  • Beatty Airport
  • Lincoln County Airport
  • Mesquite Airport
  • Echo Bay Airport
  • North Las Vegas Airport
  • Henderson Executive Airport
  • Boulder City Municipal Airport
  • Jean Airport
  • Laughlin Airport

Not only do these new airfields provide a wealth of new possibilities for single player missions, they also provides much greater distances between airfields (Tonopah to Laughlin for example) for multiplayer matches. Progress on the updated map is going well and we expect to release later in 2016.
