I am off to the Duxford Battle of Britain Air show this weekend, which I am sure will inspire me to want a Lancaster Bomber to add to my planes.

Has anyone got the First Class Simulations product?

As its quite an old model now what are you opinions on it compared to aircraft released over the last few years? Or are there any freeware or payware alternatives out there anyone can recommend.

I think the most accurate Lancaster was the Plane Designs' one, at least as far as the external model is concerned. It's for FS9, so a bit dated now, but works okay in FSX with some replacement prop textures.  As for the FCS Lanc, it looks very odd from some angles, which rather put me off it.

I couldn't agree more ! The FCS Lanc has more modern textures, but is nowhere near the PD version for accuracy IMO.

 

And yes, it would be great if A2A were to produce an Accusim Lanc. There are several of us who have been lobbying for that for years. But for the moment it seems their interests lie elsewhere.

I have the FCS Lanc and love it. The VC is really outstanding. And no, there is no FMC...

I agree with Super Six-Four. I like to fly with it. Though it would be good when A2A would make one in the same way as the excellent B-17.

The Plane Designs Lancaster at dusk - the proper sized nose turret, the proper shaped radiator intakes , the proper shaped canopy, and no anhedral in the inner wing section. Forget the FCS one - the Plane Design Lanc got it all exactly right :
