BAW77W - Customer Options

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone have a list or a cfg file for the customer options on British Airways' 77W's?

Cheers,

When you're in the Operations Center, are you seeing a little notepad icon near the livery? If so, then it already has the correct customer options.

Hi Kyle,

Thanks for the reply. I have pretty much all the 77W fleet for BA (including the ones from the ops center) and would like a list of the options for each individual aircraft.

I know it's probably impossible, but you never know :)

Cheers

Mark

As far as I know BA's 777W fleet should share the same configuration. All airframes registered G-STB_ that is.

With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

Hi Bogdan,

Not all (annoyingly), some have a 'no smoking' switch, some have an analog clock etc

You sure 200ER pictures aren't creeping into your picture searches, or do you know for a fact that these are 300ERs with analog clocks?

Yep, I've checked the reg plate on each image. I would attach an image, but I'm unable. However, I know for a fact G-STBC has an analog clock.

Thanks,

I see. Well you'd have to figure it out on your own then by looking at pictures. I might ask a BA pilot that I know who flies this type regarding the clocks and the "no smoking" switches.

With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

Yeh, thats what I've been doing, no worries. If you could, that would be super!

G-STBG and later have digital clocks. All aircraft have No Smoking switches. According to a BA insider anyway.

As mentioned -STBG and later have the digital clock. -STBI and later (no tail-skid fitted). All have no-smoking signs.

Note: (although not a customer option simulated, none of the BA -300ERs have the 4 FIX page option. Thus they only have 2 and the maximum fix range circle is 511nm). Furthermore BA chose the Honeywell RDR-4000 WX radar, vs. the Rockwell Collins WXR2100 (most popular and the one PMDG chose to simulate).

Thanks lads, this is exactly what I was after!

I believe that the digital clock and the tailskid removal are now standard features and not optional, whereas the no smoking sign and radar options are still a customer option.

Why did BA go for the alternate WXR? Commonality with their other 772's?

Correct regarding tailskid and clock.

The WXR is simply one of the many customer options offered on the B777 (nowhere near as many as on the B744). BA in this case chose the more expensive and hence less popular Honeywell RDR-4000. As did Cathay, Air Canada etc. ultimately these decisions are made by various people such as hhief Pilots, Technical pilots, bean counters (of course).

Technically speaking the RDR-4000 is a pretty incredible and highly automated WX radar. I know a B737 pilot whose airline just switched from the WXR-2100 to the RDR-4000 and his experience has been very positive.

On the other hand, Turkish chose to switch to from the RDR-400 to the WXR-2100 on their most recent batch of B77Ws!
