Updated to 10.40, Now have strange rectangular glows around all ground lights...

Featured Replies

I just updated to 10.40 last night and right off noticed 2 things:

1. All lights (I mean ALL of them, taxiway, runway, scenery lights like lamp posts, tarmac lights...) are WAY too bright at night. Like... Nuclear bright!

2. All ground lights like taxiway blue lights, runway lights all have this strange rectangular glow around them. It diminishes quickly as I get near them, but it definitely doesn't look right.

Has anyone else seen this?

Can you update to the latest 10.41r2?

I'm running that and I don't get this issue. Are you running a plugin or python script that alters any of the art controls?

Are you using Real Terra Haze?

The default preference #1 has massively intense lights.

Dave/Paul: Currently not running anything at all that would alter the lighting schema. Everything is default.

I would update to the latest beta but unfortunately that would temporarily disable my avionics (provided by FlyThisSim.com) FTS refuses to run on Beta versions of X-Plane. Every support response I've ever received concerning this problem was nothing more than "You are running a beta version of X-Plane. Please downgrade to the latest production release."

Can you provide screenshots?

Resolved.

Upon further investigation I discovered that "HDR" was turned on. No big deal, but when I turned it off, all the lights went back to normal.

Thanks everyone for your input!

But HDR shouldn't look weird, it looks great!

The XP world looks a bit bland without it.

If you're running RTH you have to reset your config - that's the problem I had

Another possibility is that if you tweaked your lights.txt file in folder \resources\bitmaps\world\lites\ (like I did) you'll want to revert it back to stock because they essentially doubled the size of all lights across the board which sort of screws some other things up in sceneries.
