P3D controls - a file I can move from v2 to v3?

Featured Replies

Is there a file I can copy over that has all my custom control settings in v2 than I can copy over to v3?  Ya know, custom buttons, switches from selections I made in the default Settings - Controls menu... deleted a lot of the axis as I use FSUIPC.  Just thought it would be easier to drag-n-drop a file rather than going through all my hardware to set them up again in v3.  I would think there would be a file somewhere but I haven't found it?

thx,

The file would be standard.xml - not sure it would work but you can always copy back the original after you back it up.

IIRC there are TWO of those - there is one in appdata - that you should leave alne. There should be another in users\(you)\appdata\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d V3\Controls.

I'm not near my flight system so hopefully I recalled those correctly. BTW, this only works if the "old" standard.xml was created on the same system - you cannot copy it from one machine to another.

Nah... that did not work.  Looks like I will just have to re-assign them manually.  Not a big deal.

It was worth a try. I've done it in the past with FSX but the GUID that windows assigns to the controller port must be identical or it won't work.  Sometimes it is easier to just reassign.  :)

I just copy the GUID from the new file and overwrite it in the old file then use the old file. This has always worked for me on previous updates. Hope it still works for P3D v3, I don't have it yet but I will soon.

WHat you need is to copy the NEW GUID into the OLD Standard.XML file. For whatever reason a new GUID has been issued to your controllers - that is what you need to use.

OK, I just reread Phil's post and he and  are saying the same thing.

Note that many times, when you unplug a controller from a USB port and plug it into a DIFFERENT port, it will get a new GUID and your controls will not work. Either always plug it in to the same port or copy the new GUID to the xml file.

If you have FSUIPC you an assign all your controls and fine tune them through the UI.  Whenever you want to transfer them over simply paste your FSUIPC.ini into the Modules folder and you have your controls in a flash.  Once assigned to FSUIPC you can disable your controls in the sim.

I agree Robert but the OP only uses FSUIPC for axis control hence the question. I use FSUIPC to control everything except keystrokes.

Actually, I use FSUIPC to control just about everything but there a some things that don't.  With my 8 or so controllers it takes about as much time to copy/paste than to just delete in the Settings - Controller window.  I'll just do it manually but thanks everyone's input.
