August 20, 200520 yr I finally bought this addon, and man I have to say that it makes the immersion factor for me even better! I also see a immprovement FPS...not so much the numbers but they are consistantly higher (although I was averagin 32 fps before) but it seems buttery smoother (is that a word(s) ). It made taking off from a busy KIAH at 6pm Central more tolerable with 75% - 100% traffic. Also flying the RealAir C172 was already super cool but add this environment package just makes flying over the houston-galveston area awesome. I never really knew that the freeware Baron58TC was so cool to fly until now...finally a consistant low level flying in FS9, that looks picture perfectWohoo!! :-D
August 21, 200520 yr Thanks D;We put a lot of hours in on FE and comments like this make me feel it's all worth while.Update 3 is next and that's going to make things a little more interesting and some nice new options and clouds and water choices.Just out of interest, do you have any perfered clouds yet or are you still experimenting. Personally I like to randomize as I like the supprise. It always amazes me to see some of the looks because I can never test evey combination of stratus, cumulus and wipsy choices. Update 2 which you have has around 36,000 and udate 3 next around 100,000 so far. I don't expect the udate to be that much larger than the current 80mb download. I would think it will be around 100mb maxRregards,
August 22, 200520 yr >Thanks D;>>We put a lot of hours in on FE and comments like this make me>feel it's all worth while. It definately is worth the effort you put into it; as a QA engineer for a vertical market hardare/software company I can tell that you guys put some thought into where you wanted to go with this addon and how to implement it to achieve your goals. Great Job!!>Update 3 is next and that's going to make things a little more>interesting and some nice new options and clouds and water>choices.Woohoo!!! can't wait but I must say I'm still just touching the surface of V2 :)>>Just out of interest, do you have any perfered clouds yet or>are you still experimenting. Personally I like to randomize as>I like the supprise. I prefer randomize, and I'm glad you included that as an option. In real life I don't pick how the sky/clouds/lighting etc is, so using the randomizer helps achieve the same no input from me how the world that I'm flying through is going to look apart from me using the real world weather option.>>It always amazes me to see some of the looks because I can>never test evey combination of stratus, cumulus and wipsy>choices. Same here, you just can't understand how I felt flying from KIAH to galveston island at dusk with the water lighting clouds; man that was awesome and in certain planes like the RealAir C172 and Baron 58tc I was getting 40 fps smoothness and this is with everything set to max except global textures (set on medium) clouds at 90% traffic 75%And for some reason AEU7 works flawlessly without any stutters like before I added Flight Environment 2004. I can't explain it and I don't know if the two are related or help each other out, but it is working for me and I'm a satified customer. :)
August 22, 200520 yr Much appriciated, really I mean it.Been working here today another 5 hours or so doing more stratus.Update 3 is going to have a lot more control of how to randomize and create specific looks. There are going to be some themes and saved situations also, some of which I use to test out clouds. It should make it a lot easier to get the look you want.Regards,
August 22, 200520 yr This statement "And for some reason AEU7 works flawlessly without any stutters like before I added Flight Environment 2004"should read "And for some reason AEU7 works flawlessly without any stutters un-like before I added Flight Environment 2004"Sorry for the confusion I may have cause you readers
August 22, 200520 yr PMJI...Is Flight Environment essentially the same as ActiveSky? Do they work together or is it one or the other? Please forgive me if this question has already been answered.Damon
August 22, 200520 yr >PMJI...>>Is Flight Environment essentially the same as ActiveSky?No, FE is not a weather program and AS is. FE replaces your clouds and water.>Do they work together or is it one or the other? Yes, they work together. If you have AS you have both weather generator and cloud/sky replacement. So AS is fully self contained in this respect. FE gives you more couds and new water (if you want them).Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
August 22, 200520 yr You can read a review for "Flight Environment " herehttp://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/review/fe/fe.htmRegards,
August 22, 200520 yr >>Yes, they work together. If you have AS you have both weather generator and cloud/sky replacement. So AS is fully self contained in this respect. >>FE gives you more couds and new water (if you want them). If I install both, do either over write anything the other offers? Would AS utilize FE's clouds? Would you say installing both is a good or bad idea or no advantage at all? Could you explain the differences a little more please? FE's clouds are great looking and I would hate to overwrite them. If FE and AS work together, I'll buy both :)ThanksBill
August 23, 200520 yr I have been thinking of FE as well. With the price of gas, I'am not driving as much as before. F%$K OPEC. Sounds like it is worth it.JimCYWG
August 23, 200520 yr ASV's clouds will overwrite FE's unless used in manual mode, FE has clouds, water, and sky options, ASV offers cloud options, you cannot use ASV clouds and FE clouds together, it's one or the other, but ASV on manual with FE's clouds, sky, and water is a really nice combination.
August 23, 200520 yr The bottom line he can use either FE clouds or ASV clouds - he has full control over which one to chose - but yes, he can't use both at the same time. Michael J. Michael J.
August 23, 200520 yr So which do you guys use or does it really matter? I am also going to buy UT USA and CANADA. Can I get 10% off if I buy both? So, if I buy FE 1st and install, then buy ASV how do I install so that I don't overwrite FE clouds? As a side, I read the review and he stated that the clouds were sometimes overdone. Have been on real flights and every passenger saidWOW as we passed through a sunset. It was an amazing sunset and they sometimes are.JimCYWG
August 23, 200520 yr Just in case there is any confusion hereAcitive sky and flight environemt work very well together and a lot of users use them both at the same time.In other words Acitve Sky will produce vey nice weather and flight environment makes nice clouds; and ASV will make use of flight environment clouds.Yes active sky has it's own clouds too which depending on your pesonal taste and viewpoint may or maynot look as good as Flight Environment clouds. Here are some FE clouds to take a look athttp://www.flight1software.com/showcase/fl...viro/index2.htmRegards,
