Flight Environment 2004: WOW!!! I never knew it was this cool

Sorry Michale if I offended you,I was getting the imporession that you were saying to others that it's not really worth getting Flgiht Environment if you already have ASV.Can you clarifiy this;Because if you geniuinely think that FE has nothing extra to offer then why don't you want a refund?I really don't like the idea of somebody feeling they do not have a value that's worth the money having bought FE.So are you saying that it's worth getting FE or not. And if it's not worth it please tell us why you want to keep FE.Something here is not making sense to me.Regards,

ICS feature yes,Yes it could be done though to be honest we have tried to talk on voice with ASV and it's nothing something they want to do; so we are forced to work ICS on their terms which will not really work particularly well with FE.We are looking at alternatives to this by maybe working ICS in to FE with it's own way of doing this.Just to clarify this can you tell me what it's like using ICS; in other words do you get the feeling that the clouds are appropiate for the weather conditions and does it bother you that for mid flight and for destination that the clouds are not matched to the departure weather.I need to work on this to get the best possible solution for everyone.Regards,

>Something here is not making sense to me.Yes, nothing will make sense the way you twist facts and misinterpret my statements. I feel it is very deliberate, you are clearly provoking a fight. Please stop this nonsense. But I will briefly answer since you asked:1. I feel developers need to be compensated for their effort, I would never ask for a refund if I got many good hours out of a product.2. FE has oustanding water - this alone is worth the price.3. FE clouds add to my choices of atmospherics.Michael J.

getting back to the original thred....thanks for the kind words about FE, it is quite stunning in most cases and good value, makes me think all those hours I spent beta testing FE was all worth it.....

I would agree to a point Jose but the problem with DXT3 is that it has a stepped grey scale and thus can make cloud edges as you fly through them very unrealistic looking. But them I'm a perfectionist so others may not find that too much of a concern.Regards,

Thanks Paul, much appreciaited.my wife don't think I'm nuts! She nose it LOLRegards,

Peter,i sended you a e-mail, anyhow i am not a expert about ics, but i know it pics the best clouds for a given situation. There is only one cumulus 01 file, so thats only one time changeble before starting fs9.Maybe it's written in the sdk wich they will release.ASV has always done a good job by picking the right clouds, to me it seems pritty realisticPeople from asv corrext me if i am wrong.RickPent 3.2 1024 htasus p4c800hd 200gb 4 partitionsmaxtor 7200 rpmati 9800pro 256 cat 5.8 ATTools21"IIyama crt19" relisys crtwin xp sp2 CH yoke + pedals+ dell laptop for asv ivae etc

Thanks Rick,I havent' seen the email; try again if you could to [email protected],

If someone were to say that FE provides a significant advance over and above what ASV offers then I guess that would make me feel good about shelling out for yet another FS addon. However the impression I am getting is that we dealing with art here and as a result beauty is in the eye of the beholder.Bruceb

yes Bruce beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I remember you were very interested in FE some time ago on a thread in May called Flight Environment FANTASTIC #253602 and you had a lot of questions then (on various FE threads) and like these posts was a very positive thread with everyone saying wow, fantastic. RE;http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchCleary dispite all the wonderful reports everyone was raving then you have not yet bought FE.I just wonder what we need to do to convince you and if it's possible at all to convince you as yet again we have the overwhelming vast majority of people saying wow.So Bruce what is it you want from these questions? I think you'll find very few people will outright say that FE is 100 times better than ASV even if they think that's the case as it's not a very nice thing to say about ASV. Most people are very much gentlemen and don't insult other developers etc.All I can say is yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I can see you back here in another few months when update 3 us out and we have another band of ravers saying how good FE is.All I can say Bruce is that we don't get bad reports. Andrew Herd reviewed it on www.flightsim.com with a thumbs up review and said it's a must have and if you buy only one thing this year buy FE and even if you never bought any add-on before then this is now the time. You'll have to read the review to get the exact wording. I point to it higher up in the thread. What I will do Bruce, not just for you but anyone reading this thread now is offer a money back gurantee if you are not 100% happy with purchasing FE.I can't do more than that and I do feel for you and can apprciate here you are again, some months later hovering over the tempting idea of maybe you should buy FE. I can assure you all the posters here are genuine and no beta testers are here pretending to be satisfied customers. As Andrew Herd said; he couln't see anyone not liking "Flight Environment"I promis you won't be robbed and if unhappy you'll get your money back. What more can I say.I would so much love that the next time you come back here or on any FE theads is to say, "I took a lot of convincing and yes I Love it!" and if you come back and say "No not for me" you get your money back and all can witness that promiss.I'm sorry Bruce if this has come across as a bit arrogant of me but I'm very proud of what we have achieved; I work darn hard on this project full time, flat out and you are my hardest of all customers to convince. Trust me nobody has been as tough as you on judging FE and I'm wondering if you have been upset by something I may have said or done to you in the past? I can at times be a "pigs ear" having worked very late, sometimes I work 18 horus a day for several days at a time on FE and I can get short tempered and head strong. So please forgive me Bruce for any past actions I may have done to upset you.Regards,

I just bought FE, last week, but have working alot. I also have AS. How do I run AS in manuel mode so I may see the FE clouds, Thanks, Bob

PeterMy earlier posts regarding ASV were made before ASV was released and as I recall my main point was that would wait for the ASV release before deciding on an FE purchase. To be honest over the interim I have been concentrating on other things eg the LDS 767, the aeroworx B200, PMDG 747 etc and clouds have been "on the backburner", just hasn't been an issue for me until this thread came up. So I chipped in seeking an opinion from users of both ASV and FE as to any additional benefits from FE. I've spent a fair bit on addons recently and there are still "must haves" on my list such as RC4 which looks as if it might finally be released and a roads & waterways addon for Australia which I have just come across. So buying an addon that does a very similar job to one I already have (discounting water effects as I never use them)has to have a lower priority unless someone can come up with a good reason to do so. The other complication is that a major update to ASV/AE is in the works. So there is nothing personal in this just a question of priorities. I guess it is a bit unfortunate that ASV included AE as it has probably siphoned off a lot of potential FE sales but that is the free market for you.Bruceb

Thanks for explaining Bruce. To be honest we don't think of ASV taking leads or business from us as the general opinion is there is a worthwhile advantage using Flight Environment with ASV and I think most of our FE customers also use ASV. The combination is pertty spectacular. For example; Andrew Herd who gave us a very thumbs up review users ASV and loves the combination. As a matter of fact I only talked to Damian Clarke on email yesterday and we both agree a potential FE cutomer is also a potential ASV customer and visa versa. So far from being in comptetion we see our products being very supportive of each other. Our testers like ASV testers are under obligations to be polite and not to pro actively harm each others products and the result is however hard a potential user of either product says which is best the reply will always be a balanced one that shows neither product having a clear advantage.Of course there are going to be some ASV users like yourself that never see hands on how spectacular this combination is. A lot of FE customers also won't see how good and spectacular ASV combined is.I guess it's really down to how many aircrafts etc you like and fly and what budget is available. One thing that's so good about FE and ASV is that these products transform evey flight and it does not matter what scenery or aircraft you use. It's one step closer to FS11 if you like.Where one person sees the environment as ctictical another sees it as desirable and another less desirable and even unemportant. All about choice and perferences. There will certainly be some FE users who never use ASV and users of ASV who never see FE.I suggest to anyone who does not have both that you are missing out a lot of potential of both products. Thanks for taking the time to furhter investigate.I have a suspicion that we may see you again when update 3 comes out and maybe again when update 4 and 5 come out. LOL I look forward to that;Meanwhile I'll be spending my usual 50-100 hours a week building more diversity in to FE for futher FREE UPDATES and enjoying evey minute.Regards,

I don't see that option, could it be that I am running ASV 2004.5.
