Arezone soundset for B5

Featured Replies

Just wanted to let others know that I replaced the default Milviz B55 soundset with the Arezone replacement, and I think the Arezone is very good. Not that there was anything wrong with the Milviz version, but I think the Arezone engine and gear/flap extension/retraction sounds are better. This whole world of replacement soundsets was unknown to me until I replaced the Carenado Seneca V sounds (poor) with the Arezone set, and in this case it was a very big improvement. Now I am looking at my other a/c for possible replacements.

I place alot of stock in a good soundset from an immersion perspective and I  find Arezone a bit hit and miss.  The B55 set is the best soundset they have done.  However, most of their sounds are badly blended across the thrust range and are far to quiet at the lower end of the thrust range.  Particlary annoying is the very obvious sound blend between their start-up sound and idle sounds.    I am not a big fan.  They are just capitalising on a much needed niche and generally do a slapdash job as a result..

Thanks for your comments, Erich.  I thought their efforts for the Bonanza A36 seemed to be better than the default sounds, but who knows?  I haven't flown the A36, so don't have a basis of comparison.  The B55 set and the A36 set are the only ones I have bought.

Edit to add:  I forgot that I also purchased the Seneca V package--also better than the default, imo.  Took AviatorMan's advice and passed on the Navajo set.

Yes agreed, the quality is spotty. Bought the B55 and the Seneca V, and I believe they are both excellent. I bought the soundset for the Piper Navajo, and decided it wasn't as good as the Carenado default soundset, so removed the Arezone and stayed with the Carenado. This makes me a bit wary of buying anything more from them. For example, I don't particularly like the current soundset for the  RealAir  Duke B60. I understand RealAir intends to revise the sounds for their upcoming P3Dv3 version, and hopefully the sounds will be good. If they are the old sounds I would be tempted to try a replacement soundset.

I have Arezone sets for the B55 and Carenado's Seneca V and Malibu Mirage and I'd rate all of them good to excellent and all definitely better than the defaults.  I replaced the two Carenados sounds because those I felt were terrible.  Based on the quality of those two sets I decided to give the B55 a shot as well.  As the OP notes, it's not that the default sounds are bad on this one, but there are a few things in the B55 that I didn't like - most specifically the startup sounds.

'Better than default sounds' is not a glowing review though.  Carenado has a history of bad soundsets which doesn't take much to improve on.  It is only recently that they have started to apply some quality to this aspect of their product range.

It is not so much that Arezone has bad sound recordings, but their sound engineering into a final product for flightsim needs alot more attention to detail.  I have noticed that their sound packages tend to appear only a few days - if not sooner - after the release of a new GA aircraft.  That smacks of slapdashery which is quite evident in the final product
