Mark,Active Camera version 2.1 has the same dll as version 2.0 except that we added a virtual tower view (the rest of programming code remained unchanged). I am pretty sure that if you revert back to AC version 2.0 your issue will still exist. I suspect a conflict (in the registry database ???)I know you have tons of 3rd party dll's and it is not that easy to find where is the conflict.IMHO the best method is to neutralize each 3rd party add-on dll, one by one, then trying several combinations.regardsedit : I just read your PM confirming that 2.1 update seems not to be specifically the cause.

I do seem to have narrowed this down to being a .dll issue of some kind, in any case, then, given that when I remove yours, all is well. However, having used Active Camera daily since its release, I was pretty sure that it could not be the REASON things are not working well for me.So any tips from cleverer people than I on how to assess any registry database conflicts would be more than welcome! However, I'm now pretty sure that AC has nothing to do with my problems, because tonight I found that I still got the pauses even with your software uninstalled. Previously, I reported that all was well when the ActiveCamera.dll was not present. On that occasion it was, but certainly not tonight when I tried all this again. So thanks for your time, but I'm glad to say that it does not appear to be anything to do with Active Camera!I did find that somehow I had a much older FSSound.dll than I should have done, but updating it has made no difference. Well, I'm at a loss to understand why, but all seems to be well again.Having spent a long evening unchecking and rechecking scenery, checking dlls, removing this, replacing that, I finally decided to give the 'let FS create a new FS9.CFG file' option one more go. I did this early in my explorations of my problem, to no avail.However, tonight, it worked.I flew around for a while to test for pauses, and there were none. I spent the next half an hour carefully copying across my critical settings from the old FS9.CFG file (which, as you will realise, I had kept) and did not see anything out of whack. So why it worked tonight, I just do not know, but it did. I've just completed an hour's flight with most sliders maxed, my 77.77 drivers reinstalled, with windows spread all over three monitors, and didn't have a single glitch.So thanks, all, who were kind enough to help. I feel I've wasted your time, but FS works in mysterious ways. If anybody can tell me why what is basically a simple text file can be bad one day and good the next, I'd be fascinated to hear! I suppose there must be one number in there that I've overlooked that tipped the scales. Nothing to lose ... just back up your previous version of the file. Then, if things improve for you, and you test successfully, you can then go through the 'compare' routine viewing both files in two windows and move across any critical settings you may wish to keep. It's processes and the mass of additional programs running to support FS9 were killing my machine.Simple things like turning animations off on your GUI for windows may make a difference to your CPU usage, but nothing is going to do you more benifit than backing up your important goodies, and formatting and starting new.If nothing else, it'll give you that new computer smell :(

In the past, when I had these sorts of issues, I derived great benefit from getting into all the programs that have 'autoupdate' options and changing everything to manual. If your disk is properly managed, I can see no reason why a reformat would help. The hassle is just too awesome, also. I have nearly 80GB in flightsim alone, and have no wish to have to back all that up for no reason. Actually, I do keep a copy of much of it on another hard disk, I confess, but I, like most I think, have so many tweaks and twonks in my setup (and therefore registry) that it would take weeks to reset everything to where I am today. During these massive pauses and refresh moments, does your hard drive wirr away like crazy?Obviously your CPU is going nuclear, does your harddrive follow suit?
