3.1 and done

Featured Replies

Followed instructions and also got the latest from Orbx, Active Sky Next and Estonia Migration Tool, etc. Everything went without a hitch and pretty fast, too. All addon programs and scenery working as advertised. Very pleased with the update.

Is the 9.8GB file (or so) a full version of 3.1? Or is this just the client that updates the P3D to 3.1?

The 9.8 Gb is the full up package however when you unzip it it will create the client.msi as well as scenery.msi etc. files.  If you already have 3.0 installed just uninstall the 3.0 client using control panel then use the unzipped 3.1 client.msi and reinstall the client.

Okay. Also, I know this may be excessive, but, how will this impact my add-ons?

I have ORBX, ASN, as well as sceneries from FSDT, FlyTampa, Drzewiecki Design, as well as some PMDG aircraft.

I purchased a license to these products, and I don't want them to think that I am installing their products on another PC.

In the case of Orbx you will need to update the objectflow.dll file which is on the Orbx website.  Not sure but I think FTX Central can do that also.

ASN has a update on their website for 3.1.

FSDT, FlyTampa and Drzewiecki Design caused no issues of any kind for me.  I have no PMDG aircraft so can't speak to that one.

You don't have to re-license any of your addons.

In my case I did run into one scenery entry that caused a problem:

I have probably the same addon as you have. Did a full (!) update after deinstallation of v3.0. Left all folders and configs intact. After update to 3.1. all addons (!) running. Only manually to re-install was FTX Global (for obvious reasons) and FSX HD trees as well as ASN new beta. Took me me about one hour. Happy camper here.
