September 16, 200520 yr Hi mgh,Again you are trying to access a secured internet server (your hyperlink says: httpS instead of http. If you do this you will get a warning that the https server recognised you are accessing a website which does not require any extra security. It also goes back to the http server. In the case of FSInsider you also tried to launch the Secured server which in this case did not direct you to the normal http server. Do not mix up both servers, they are virtually a complete different setup. HTTPS is a different protocol, different security than the HTTP server. You can run two different websites with the same domainnames. http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/insider.asp is also a productpage to sell the Flightsim, whereas http://www.fsinsider.com is a site for people who already bought the application. The fact that a certain certificate is valid or not is, is not quite relevant in this case. The website uses codings that Microsoft most likely have bought elsewhere. This could be a validation rule or a login procedure or a bit of Java-scripting. In many cases it is true that you have to make sure this is not a virus or what ever. As long as you can make sure you are sitting on a safe and thrustworthy site, nothing is the matter.
September 16, 200520 yr FSinsider has been around for a while, and I'm pretty sure that it is one of the official MSFS pages. Infact a while back I used to have the "strategy guides" for FS95 and 98 and I remember seeing something about FSinsider in those manuals.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
September 16, 200520 yr Bleh, all my experience is with products from competitors (mainly Sun and IBM), else I might consider it (do they pay relocation expenses and H1B sponsorship and application fees?).
September 16, 200520 yr We started development of version 2 of our product a year before version 1 was released to the first customers.Design and planning had started half a year before that, so 18 months before version 1 was delivered. We're now almost done building version 2 and we still haven't delivered version 1 to every customer that ordered it.Development of version 3 will start early next year, we expect to start rolling out version 2 2nd quarter 2006 to the first customers on an experimental basis.Long leadtimes on products are quite normal, especially larger products. So is development of several versions in parallel.
September 17, 200520 yr Hehe, they may want you just for your Sun experience, but that could lead to trouble, eh? Okay, I'll not go there :DAnyway, I hope these positions are filled by true flight-sim fans. That's all I hope for in that regard.-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!
September 17, 200520 yr I've seen where the Sun don't shine :-lolwho knows, might have a chance to try Microsoft tools soonish. Got a call from a headhunter who wants to submit my CV to a company using C# where she thinks I'll fit in.
September 17, 200520 yr Hmmm, very well could be a good oportunity. Good luck to ya!-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!
September 19, 200520 yr I'm still waiting for a reply to my email to [email protected] asking if www.fsinsider.com is a gwenuine Microsoft site. Gerry Howard
September 19, 200520 yr Author I don't know how much credibility I have with you, and having said that, FSINSIDER is definitely an MS site. In fact, it was discussed this weekend at the conference.
