P3D v3.1 best choice for textures Rex TD, RexE, ASN and settings?

Featured Replies

Finally getting around to building my system from scratch and moving from 2.5 to 3.1 (in prep for Oculus Rift + FlyInside in the coming months)..Also rolling into a 980ti 6gb card from a 3gb 780ti on 3x24" screens (57600x1080), ill be sharing some results on that swap in the near future..

Its been awhile, so i'm wondering what everyone is using these days for clouds/ground textures.

Seems to me, in the past I used to use Rex TD + ASN.. i think i used Rex Texture Direct for the ground and ASN for clouds.  I also have Rex softclouds.. so i think that comes last.

That was awhile back.. so that said.. what do most recommend or have found to be the best to use, all REX or still a combo, or maybe another 3rd party in the mix these days?

And for the given texture program.. any recommended cloud/ground themes that seem to be the best?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

ASN is a great slim weather engine combined with REX4 TD/Softclouds a great addition to P3D so you´re good to go here.

I personally use FTX Global for the ground as well as their full fat regions. I also heard a lot of good things about Ground Environment P3D world Edition by Fight1.

Yeah as of this moment i've installed a random set of textures from both Texture Direct and Softclouds.. i've always used ASN for weather generation.. it is indeed great.

Just unsure if there is a better theme selection for each category than what I typically choose.

I have ground environment Prepar3D world edition.. i've used ftx global in the past, from what i read, i'm probably ok just leaving GE for P3d in place and not worrying about FTX Global, though i do use ftx regions which should still mesh well.  You cant switch back and forth unfortunately.

I use ASN weather, RexTD and SoftClouds, GEXP3D with UTX and some Orbx Regions. Had FTX Global but prefer GEXp3D.

Can anyone tell me which folders the sky and cloud texture files live in? Are they. The same in P3D v2 and v3?
