What's that frame at the center of the windshield?

Recommended Posts

Hello Captains!

Could anyone clarify me on this issue? I've 'googled' it intensively but did not found any answer.

Is that a heater for the windshield?

Many thanks in advance and best regards

That relatively small section of the windscreen is the heated portion.  Yeah, if the windscreen gets obscured by ice, that little hole is your forward vision.

Wish I had one for my car this morning...

We use to call them a "hot plate", it is electrically heated.

Thank you for the answers, Captains.

I suspected it should be a system of that nature.

Best regards from Portugal ;)
