Flight Toolkit 1.1.22

Just exactly what folder are the converted scenery files supposed to wind up in?

Depends on the command you tell it, ie you 'create' a tmp folder for the converter and tell it to use that dir

as an example: I use

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Flight Tools\Flight Toolkit\ContentConverter.exe" FSX /i:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X" /o:"C:\FlightTemp" /a
Pause

which places the tmp files in "C:\FlightTemp" dir and then creates an addon in that dir that I then have to load manually with the Addon Manager

If you don't use the "/a" option it will automatically copy the files to your Flight Addon Directory (I think)  :P  I don't do it that way so not certain on that

You can change the tmp dir to anything you want but be sure to create that directory before running the converter (also if you copy my command be sure to change the "/o" option respectively also)

Edit:  if your asking where the Addons for Flight are stored, I cant remember the exact directory atm will look and see but I imagine its in a user folder somewhere, like C;\Users\<your user name>\Roaming\AppData\Microsoft\Flight ...  something

Edit2:  Mine are stored in

"C:\Users\<my user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Xlive\DLC\4d5308d2\00000002"

but this is likely to be different depending on your Op System

What AirWayMan said :)

Hmm, since more than one person report the new tools fixed conversion for them, I am suspecting maybe there was some change in the last version that slipped in without me noticing.  Maybe i made a last minute change after creating the old 1.1.22 installer, and I forgot to recreate it.

Kavinda: The fact that FSX:SE has a second propui.xml seems like it might be a bug, but maybe they added some new stuff, or fixed some problem.  I do recall their being a bug in a couple of the FSX, and possibly Flight prop files that i had to create workarounds for in SimPropCompiler.  Does propui (2).xml use the same namespace as the propui.xml?  The would show up near the beginning of the files.

OK, let me rephrase my question.

If I want to rerun the converter and get a fresh, new batch of converted scenery files, what files do I need to delete before I rerun the converter?

Steve,  FYI,   my FSX:SE does NOT have a second propui.xml file.

Blue skies & tailwinds,

-Alan

the files in the tmp directory as I described above.

In my Example it would be the files in "C\FlightTemp" directory

More specifically whatever the directory 'set' as the "/o <dir>"

"/o"  meaning the output directory for the converter

Didn't the first conversions delete all of the files out of that folder when the conversion finished?

Blue skies & tailwinds,

-Alan

no by default it leaves the files but also should only 'update' files when you rerun the converter, its not necessary to delete them but you can if you wish. If you just rerun the converter it will overwrite and/or add to them as needed I believe.

Edit: in previous examples most people just use "c:\Temp" or "C:\Tmp"  or some derivative of that as the tmp dir, you will know as it has 2 dir's in it - FSX World and Temp (the Temp dir should be empty) and the converted scenery files will be in "C:\<some dir>\FSX World"

Great Job!   got the scenery converted and all went well :)

Still don't have any default buildings at my small home field but so far (one short flight only at KGOK) it looks like it worked as expected.

on the aircraft front I 'broke' the Addon Manager  :D   it crashed when I tried to install an edited build dir addon I created  hehe - finally found the errant addon in xlive folder and deleted so everything is good again   :P  so starting over on the Cessna  but looks good also haven't re tried the piper yet, but am guessing it was something I did and not the tools because I've had several issues on Cessna also when I edit or remove something in build dir, but I cant help 'messin' whit it  :D

You should be able to edit files in the build dir, as long as you don't make the files invalid :)

I loaded up KGOK in FSX and there are 8 buildings.  I loaded the same airport up in Flight and there are at least 7 buildings, so it seems like most or all of the buildings are being converted.

I thought so, but have had 2 'bad' builds - 1 I tried to remove a file completely & 1 when I tried to replace an entire dir from one build aircraft to another, I can 'edit' the files ok it seems, but not replace or remove them :P  if something 'does' goes wrong I just have to manually delete the addon dir or Addon Manager wont run.

OMG I feel like an idiot  -  default settings where to low to draw them  :D  great deal now it seems more like home  :D

I think it was me messing around with the files. I deleted the whole propdefs folder and made steam download it, and there is no duplicate propui.xml file. The conversion now runs with no problems.

I don't know how HeimiPilot had the same error when he had no second propui.xml file.

Kavinda J.D  ^_^

Still can't install the toolkit on my windows 10 machine. The installer works but actually creates no visible (or hidden) files or folders, yet it shows up as installed in programs and can be uninstalled, though what the system thinks its uninstalling is a mystery.

An attempt at a repair seems to have a fatal error dealing with the net framework.

Error is 0x80070643

Still can't install the toolkit on my windows 10 machine.

HiFlyer, I don't think its Windows 10 issue as I've installed / uninstalled on my Win 10 64bit multiple times with no problems.

Error is 0x80070643

Googling this gives a few results that may be a help but you may want to wait for someone with more knowledge than I before you proceed, these look promising though:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976982

This issue may occur if the MSI software update registration has become corrupted, or if the .NET Framework installation on the computer has become corrupted.

and

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-error-code-0x80070643

You may or may not get an Error Code 0x80070643 at the end. This may occur when the installers has insufficient privileges to modify a file or a folder.

Can you uninstall and then reinstall and share both installation logs?

Also, I vaguely remember some issue where the toolkit would not install the vc redist properly.  You might want to try installing the x86 one manually from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

Since it actually seems to create no actual folders, I'm not sure where I would find any logs.

In fact the only place I can find anything regarding flight actually installed is on C: ProgramData / Package Cache
