February 29, 201610 yr Hi guys, I recently found some beautiful repaints made by Mark Voigt. I was looking for new paints and he made some beautiful repaints for the FAIB-738 and 739 for Alaska Airlines. These textures are in FSX format and I need to convert them to FS9. Voigt has a simple guide to convert them and he suggests a downloadable program to start with. I actually dont know what program this converting program is. Can someone help me with this? Thanks in advance! Bert Veeningen
February 29, 201610 yr ConvImX would do it: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Image-Convertors/ConvImX.shtml You need to convert DDS to BMP and invert the image, this software allows batching so it's quite painless.
February 29, 201610 yr If memory serves, FAIB FSX textures are 2048x2048 and those won't work in FS9. You will have to resize them to 1024x1024. Eliminating 75% of the pixels will most likely greatly reduce the quality, so be prepared. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
February 29, 201610 yr Author I have never tried it before, according to Mark Voigt it is possible to do this without pain. He has a guide on his website: www.kaese2002.de Bert Veeningen
March 1, 201610 yr Here is the link to the tutorial Mark Voigt have to convert FSX textures to FS9 textures. http://kaese2002.blogspot.de/p/blog-page.html He even made his own converter tool. If the textures are 2048x2048 then you will have to resize them to 1024x1024 using a paint program.
March 1, 201610 yr Turns out, the gentleman concerned is called Maik not Mark... I resize to 1024x1024 using DXTBMP directed to my image software, after converting with ConvimX as described above. Be interesting to see if Maik's method is quicker and/or gives a better result.
March 1, 201610 yr Author Thanks guys, I sorry I mispelled his name, guess I had a case of dyslexia at the time. I going to give it a go tonight and I will report back to you when Im done. Bert Veeningen
