October 1, 200520 yr Freeware or payware, any good ones? Anyone flying Feelthere's Caravan? How is it? Thanks!!
October 1, 200520 yr I like Feelthere's Caravan a lot. Very easy on frame rates, nice visual model. It does use the default gauges but I actually never found that to be a problem. It works well and is so much nicer than the default Caravan. You shouldn't be disappointed if you get it.Have fun flyin'Zane Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
October 2, 200520 yr I'm also quite happy with the Feelthere Caravan but it's definitely not the best bush plane out there. It uses default gauges and the VC isn't very detailed. For that kind of money, and especially considering FS already comes with both a wheeled and ampbibious Caravan by default, I expected more. The exterior model and texturing are really nice though. I think the more specialized GA developers like FSD, DF, Carenado, RealAir and others know more what the bush/GA addon market expects than Feelthere who should stick to making "flying computers" instead. However, if you really like the Caravan their model is still better than the default and well worth purchasing. -
October 2, 200520 yr I'm with Jimmi, don't waste your money, there are better freeware bush planes!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
October 2, 200520 yr I wish is was more detailed, but it is the best out there so far. The default gauges don't look "bad" IMO, it just could look better. Anyway, the price is right, and the cargo version has been in my hanger! If only they made the night lighting so the gauges would illuminate instead of a dome light, I would fly it more often
October 2, 200520 yr Anyone care to speculate on the payware from JustFlight available shortly?... Rick
October 2, 200520 yr I'd bet it is the feelthere version. Not 100% sure but I think that would be the case.XP Home SP2Asus P4P800-SE Intel 3.0GHZDDR 400 D/C 4x512MBLeadtek 6800GT 256MB (77.72)SB AudigyCH Products Yoke/Pedals USBSee you in the fence...CYYZ Al Stiff
October 2, 200520 yr Speaking of excellent freeware bushplanes....you really must get this Maule!Brilliantly done and it comes in loads of variants. Everythings packaged neatly together: planes, panels & sound.http://www.flightsim.no/ftp/img/05/Maule_LN_AEW.jpgGo to http://www.fsnordic.net/ & look in the General Aviation Library:)

October 2, 200520 yr The basic Feelthere Caravan looks and flys much better than the default. I don't mind the default gauges, because I put the Sandel 3308 and garman GNS suite in mine. I plan to add new basic T gauges as they become available. The Caravan is an able work horse, for sure, but I don't consider it a Bush plane. Haul freight around the rural circuit, or haul skiers or people who leap out of airplanes for fun. Use it like a lotto winner's Skylane. Take it to dirt and grass strips and smaller (but not too small) strips in the woods, but if you try to take it to places that give the Beavers and Super Cubs and Porters a workout, you will be picking bark and squirrel fur and instrument panel out of your teeth. I think the basic Feelthere Caravan is priced just right. It is as good a deal, to me, as the PMDG Beech 1900's, both of which get a lott of attention from me.I can't comment on the deluxe version.
October 2, 200520 yr As with Steve, I bought the "basic" version and used RealityXP gauges on it. I currently have the WXR, GNS530, GNS430, SN3308 and SN3400 in it - which I cannot do with the default aircraft because, put simply, they cannot all be fitted into the virtual cockpit. As for the use of default gauges, Why re-invent the wheel if it doesn't need it? PMDG have used them fairly successfully in a reasonably priced add-on, so have feelThere. There really isn't that much difference between an attitude indicator and an attitude indicator at the moment - again as above, I'm waiting to see what the Flight Line T achieves. On the other hand, there is a whole lot of difference between the models in the feelThere set and the default one. My only problem with the pack is that there isn't an amphib in the set. Hopefully someone can do that in the future.I wouldn't recommend the Deluxe version - the GPS gauges are reskinned default GPS500s and have the same features which I find really annoying - like the inability to clear the "MSG" flag or enter routes directly, as examples. I have no problem at all with the basic pack though.Ian P.(Edited to correct typo)
