So ... do you mean that Envtex doesn't offer much for existing REX/TextureDirect/FEX users? I find, for instance, that FEX gives me a lot of control over sky/water textures (and time-of-day colouriing) - more than REX, certainly. It sounds to me like I wouldn't be gaining that much <?>.

However - if you don't have REX (or similar) then I suppose it'd be a good buy <?>.

Adam.

I have both. I purchased Envtex because I'm kinda tired of tweaking my own sky textures (included in Ultimate Realism Pack) and was highly interested in 10 day cycle sky variety. I think Envtex's best feature are the sky textures and the integration with ASCA, so you will see more vivid sky during nice weather, pale skies during foggy, etc etc. Still testing that combiantion, but I've heard it is working pretty good. Also you can change in ASCA which sky textures will be used on which weather.

I don't have Active Sky, but use OPUS for real/dynamic weather (no textures involved). I use the same static textures throughout - generated by a combination of FEX and REX.

Even with only the one set of textures, I find that with a bit of haze (that you can easily control with PTA), I get plenty of variation in sky colours as the OPUS-generated weather system changes.

Sounds promising. Are you satisfied with this purchase? No more fiddling with sky textures and it is really have a 10-day cycle with really different sky textures?

How the quality of fog color and lighting of that textures?

Thanks

No longer use FEX, but have OPUS, Active Sky and REX.

I am delighted with what I have seen so far with ENVTEX for the co-ordination and simplicity of it all. They have done (IMHO) a particularly good job with the wave and water sets, not to mention the superior auto sky theme variation options.

ENVTEX and PTA has covered all the visual bases for my P3D v3.4+ in every respect.

Most impressed! Sorry Adam, no before and after pics.  :hi:  The after are great!

Stephen, good to read that you find the water sets good.

I am still using a REX TD water set and tried Robs wave set .

The PTA settings regarding water are not all that clear to me as some screenshots resamble others.

Beside that : water that has small waves when flying low has too big waves at high altitudes.

I am looking for smal waves at low, midlevel and high altitude.

It is all in the waterconstantv3.xml and triton.cfg file..

Yuri, can you help with this ?

Wavesize at low, middle and high altitude ?

AGREE with Stephen (Spirit Flyer) 100%

Been wanting to see if ENVTEX provided a change in water textures.  Installed ENVTEX and applied Maxime's PTA ini file along with his suggested HDR settings.  Guess what?  For the first time ever in P3D, I am seeing the animated water/waves textures that LM, REX and FEX have never been able to give us ! !   BEAUTIFUL

Yuri,

Does PTA v2 restore Shaders before applying the settings ?

I use multiple ini files and wasn't able to have my night as in PTA v1.

After restoring the Shaders and applying the same settings again in v2 it was working...

Tested it with v1 and there I do not have to manually restore Shaders before applying one of my ini profiles...

Hi Gerard,

What I did was have the original default shaders restored from PTA first, then select and install the appropriate ENVTEX choices, then run simulator. Once finished, re-run PTA and use provided profiles (or be cautiously creative and select options), load and run simulator.

Then you should have the best of both worlds, I think...

Here is the manual:

Why is this all a big deal about ENVTEX? Lots to offer now, and look what also is coming down the pike as free updates. :hi:

Does PTA v2 restore Shaders before applying the settings ?

PTA 1.X and 2.0 use the original P3D shaders as a start point before applying preset.

Upd:

therefore, the restoration of shaders before preset applying doesn't required definitely.

All modifications in shaders have been made before applying preset will be lost.

The exception is using custom tweaks in PTA2.0. They apply after preset.

Then I do not know why my night preset is working right away in v1 and in V2 not ..

If I load my night preset after having used the day preset in V2 the photo ground scenery is not dark enough.

If I do a Shader restore and then apply my night preset it is working.

When I do the same with V1 I do not have to load the default Shaders first.
