New machine for P3D v3

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Haven't had a new machine since well before P3D was released.  My old machine died a quick and painless death so I was left with my laptop with an I7 4th gen 4500U at 1.6 GHz 2 core with a max turbo of 3.0 GHz and an Nvidia 745M.

P3D v3 actually runs well as long as the settings are fairly low.

At any rate here is my new machine.

Intel 6700k @ 4GHz

8 GB DDR4 @ 2666GHz

ASUS  Z170 Mobo

600W PS

GE Force GTX1060 8GB

Air cooled

Think it will run P3D v3 well?

I'm at my budget limit and the parts are ordered.

Thanks

GE Force GTX1060 8GB

I think there is no 8Gb of GTX 1060.

If you have money try to get GTX 1070 or higher 1080.

The rest of your configuration is perfect and P3D should run very well.

Looks good. While you are at it you might as well get 16GB of DDR4 RAM it is not going to cost much more.

I personally would get a 4GB Nividia graphics card. You don't really need more than 4GB and you can easily change it out for a 8GB in a year when the prices have dropped significantly. Unless of course you get a deal on a 8GB one.

Also get a good 500+gb SSD.

BTW even with all of this high-end kit don't except miracles and expect to have all the sliders to the right - you will still get low (although a lot higher than most of us) frame rates in large airports with lots of scenery and AI traffic.

You say the parts are ordered, so a bit late now but...

What make of PSU? Quality PSU is essential.Personally I prefer multi-rail PSU's as opposed to single rail.

Make and model of RAM? Ripjaw V is highly recommended.

Air cooler make and model?

Do you intend to overclock?

I don't expect miracles but I do hope to have at least be able to use something from PMDG.

I think it will do well, especially if you overclock it.  I'd guess 20-25 fps with complex addons/scenery/weather at 1080P.
