Personally, I use MSI Afterburner - Free, works with Nvidia & ATI and hardly any frame rate hit (plus all the monitoring facilities you will ever need)....

Just gave ShadowPlay a shot and I can't figure out how to record only the P3D window. Is that possible, or do I have to record my whole desktop?

OBS Studio is free too, and I just finished a video without any problem in P3Dv3. Didn't have any issues with fps, or memory leak.
