December 6, 200520 yr I recently purchased MSFS04 (upgrading from my older MSFS 2002). I loaded a bunch of freeware and payware goodies that were compatible w/ both programs (PMDG 737/My Traffic04) and some Proj Opensky planes and flew around impressing myself with the new look. Then, I went to one of my favorite USA to Europe Jumpoff points, Dulles (KIAD) and what a disappointment!! What happened to the airport?? I just have a tower in the middle of no place with some ugly/generic buildings nearby.I fired up my old 2002 and sure enuough, there was at least some rudementary terminal building. FS 2004 had none. Even the outlaying terminals were simple 'boxes'So, thinking my add-on freebies and payware might have screwed up some important file (if so, what file?), I uninstalled and then reinstalled MSFS 2004 hoping perhaps the possibly corrupted file would be replaced.I ran the software without installing the PMDG or My Traffic, and still no KIAD.Can anyone please check thier KIAD and tell me if they have something more than a tower in a field and some basic outbuildings for KIAD.If something happened to my files, what could have happened, and why wouldnt a reinstall fix it?Mark Also, one other question... do ANY of the default terminals feature jetways? December 6, 200520 yr Boxes is indeed what KIAD has become so consider what you are seeing as all you will get. There is however an excellent freeware version. I am "flying" right now but I will try and find it when I land. Try a search on the file library for KIAD. I think the addon was part of a collection of several. Happy hunting.Andrew BrownACPChttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
December 6, 200520 yr Ignore above. Yes what you see at KIAD is indeed as good as it gets. There is no addon scenery available anywhere that I could find (asked here too). I thought about having bash at something myself but that is a long way behind some other stuff I am involved in. The way I see it though anything would be better than what MS leave us with.BTW the scenery I was thinking of is for KDEN.Andrew BrownACPChttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
December 6, 200520 yr There a Simflyers payware KIAD. http://www.simflyers.net/Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]
December 7, 200520 yr Hey,I did this scenery, KIAD, for FS2002 a while ago and currently working for the update/version for FS2004. The file is here in the lib, kiad_new.zip. The 04 version will be about the same as the airport had not changed much although there are plans for two more runways and some new buildings. My package has the what was then the new term "G" area. You can take a look at the jpg for fs2002 and maybe it might be what you are lookin for and all very frame rate friendly of course.Douglas B-707 Ret.:-bigangel
December 7, 200520 yr Thanks to all the replies. You put my mind at ease knowing it wasnt something I did to my files. It does beg the question of how a major airport like KIAD would be overlooked. Especially since there was a rudimentary terminal building in the FS2002!! Going from something in 2002, no matter how basic, to nothing in 2004, is sort of odd.>>Question for Old_Doggie. Do I understand correctly that you have a KIAD file for FS 2004? Or is it for 2002, but importable to FS2004? Thanks again for your replies to my posts.Mark

MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad
December 7, 200520 yr IIf you are refrerring to the MegaScenery, I saw that it will include Dulles. However, I am not familar with the product, so I do not know how it handles airport buildings and environments.Since I want to base my plane out of this region (BWI/DCA/IAD), I will probably purchase this product as eventually.mark
December 7, 200520 yr Author Yes Flight scenery has the Washington DC area listed for one of there Flight Zone series but I dont think it known yet what airports will be included. I hope they do BWI/DCA/IAD there PVD was amazing and the Portland looks even better. Andrew
