Pago Pago

Recommended Posts

Orbx Pago Pago is my favorite place to fly from and too and I now see that the 747 was a local visitor in the early 80's via Pan American Airways.

Now only to wait (and I hope it is not another full year) for my 747 to sit on that runway soon.

(Beta testers maybe a picture of same?)

I was there a few months ago in my B736 BBJ, for which I used ADE to add a spot on the ramp for the private jet.  I notice Orbx includes a large parking spot at Gate B... hmmmm.

Those days when Pan Am was covering the Pacific, crews actually got to spend a few days at these exotic locations instead of 10 hr turnarounds.  Just imagine the parties they had, oh my.

Pago Pago is the subject of the book Clipper 806 the crash of a Pan Am 707 in a thunderstorm while on ILS approach.

Everyone stopped in NSTU enroute to NZAA or YSSY from PHNL before the B742 and it's longer legs.   It was three legs to VVTS from  KSUU in the B707-300Cs. Not sure what B707 variant Pan Am was using back then?

The AN-225 was in NTSU back in 2009 with a load of generators.
