Scenery addons

Featured Replies

What is the best scenery addons? Is there a conflict if you use two or more at the same time, like Megascenery and BirdsEyeView? Thanks.

they are different add-ons, megascenery is just a scenery layer for that certain area while birds eye is for the whole world.BEV. ActiveSky V, Flight Environment, various airport sceneries by FlyTampa, Flight Scenery, a few others are my favorites.

Thanks Alex.

You may also want to download some of the free scenery addons from the Avsim library. Anything by Holger Sandmann is worth having.

Thanks Bert. But is there any conflict between the various scenery addons? Sure would hate to have one addon mess up the other one.

Occasionally the sequence of the addons in the Scenery Library can have an effect, but you can always disable an addon in the library manager if it misbehaves.Holger's sceneries are mostly local, so they have only a limited range. The readme files are quite specific on co-existance issues.

I was considering ordering the Ultimate Terrain. Is this worth it? Does it impact frames a lot?

UT is excellent because it "fixes" scenery in the whole continental USA (I heard Europe was coming). No, I see no impact on frames however this may not apply to someone with an old PC. The only potential frame impact is with very special night scenery included with UT (uses "point" lights) - but you can easily disable selectively features of it.I also highly recommend anything from FlightScenery. In my opinion the absolute state of the art of FS scenery.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg

Thanks, Michael.

UT is one of the best scenery add-ons that I bought, along with ASV and Flight Enviroment for weather/environmental effects. For Europe and the rest of the world, the best right now would be FScene. Also, notable would be koorbygen light, with adds a lot of autogen scenery (free in the library).I am also a huge fan of all Aerosoft and FlyTampa airports, along with Cloud9.The best freeware library is hosted at http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004.phpPa

Here are a few freeware gems:-Any scenery by ISD Project, especially LIRF and LIMC:http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View-The Beirut Int'l Airport OLBA scenery plus all the other Lebanese sceneries by Michel Karam and his Lebor team:http://pages.infinit.net/mkaram/Lebor/index.html-The Hong Kong Int'l Airport VHHH scenery by Thomas Kwong:http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View-The Athens Int'l Airport LGAV scenery plus all the other airports and mesh that have been made for Greece by the Hellas Scenery Project:http://www.avsim.com/greece/scenery/index_main.htmThere's a lot more that I could write here, but in the mean time, what I wrote above are some of my all-time favorite sceneries, and I guess that you can tell that I'm an airliner lover. ;) :-hahEnjoy!!!! :-wave

Bumping this up for those of you who haven't seen my humble little list....;)Cheers,
