You've got me considering an Oculus...

Quick question....  I was price-shopping the Amazon.com site for it.  The site states that a Windows PC (figured that one) and 'internet connection' are required for use.  Is that telling me that I would need to be connected to the internet all the time I was using the Rift?

I do understand that there is other sim software that requires a full-time connection to run with the sim.  Live wx and traffic makes sense.  Wondering if this falls into that category, and if so, why?

Sorry about tne newbie question....thanks!

Jim

Jim, I started using the Rift in December, and to me it is a no brainer that this is the future. I can't stand using monitors anymore as the immersion factor is almost nothing compared to the rift. There are some things that will improve in the future (resolution, frame rates etc), but they are MORE than good enough even at this stage of the game.

It is really an amazin experience. AeroFly FS2 is mind boggling in VR, and with their engine you get frame rates around 90-fps, and the resolution is fantastic. It may not be a real "simulation" at this point (although they are adding more to it in the near future), but it has a bunch of great stock aircraft, and for VFR flying in VR it is well worth it.

Pick one up at Best Buy, and if you don't like it return it within 30 days ;) I don't think you will though!

Though I have seen a few here that have. Everyone has a different tolerance for some of the shortfalls.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

It's awfully tempting to try it.  Wondering if my hardware's up to it tho...especially the video card.

i7-6700k 4.0(not over-clocked yet), GTX970, 32 G DDR4...

Jim

That hardware should be fine.

You can also search for and download a compatibility tool from Oculus that will allow you to check your system.
