January 1, 200620 yr Could someone please tell me how to create a movie or video with Flight Sim? Not just the ones within FS itself but the ones that have been posted on the forums. I have seen several (with music) showing new software such as FScene and MegaScenery, as well as some great videos by forum members. One suggested using XP's movie maker which I finally opened and explored. However, I don't know where to start using FS. Do you use the FS "record video" option within FS itself where you choose the recording rate (1 second, etc.)? I always had a bad experience using the FS "record video" option because they always seem choppy and stuttery. Videos of FS I have seen are always so smooth. Thanks. Regards, Tom

January 1, 200620 yr The smoothest ones are done with DV out on the graphics card straight to a Camcorder. You then copy the clips back over.Fraps and TAKSI are the best software capture methods. Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere are the leading real time editing packages but Windows Movie maker is always faithful. January 1, 200620 yr I believe that with the demo versions of FRAPS and others, you have a 30 second limit on the length of the videos Manny Patel
January 1, 200620 yr I connect my camcorder to the S-Video Out on my graphic board, audio gets connected the same way with a stereo connection and via a small mixing board from my sound card. After recording, I edit the video with Sony Vegas 6.A cheaper alternative is to record everything with a program like Fraps, but you won't be able to capture the full quality (and size), unless you have a very high-end machine.Hope this helps,Pat
January 1, 200620 yr Hey Pat, Happy New Year. I have tried without any success to use my S-Video out on my Nvidia6800GT AGP card. If I use anything above 800x600 the display on the external device has no signal. I use 1152x864 32bit at this time. How are you doing this? Can you explain? That would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Best regards, Jeff
January 1, 200620 yr Hey Jeff, it all depends on the driver. I have seen many reports that the most recent nVidia drivers do tend to have some problems with the S-Video out. What helps for me, it to connect all the equipment and reboot. I usually record with 800x600 or 1024x768, because the resolution is still higher than the regular TV signal (720x480) and works just fine for me when burning a DVD. There is really no need to bump it up all the way to 1152x864.Hope this helps,Pat
January 2, 200620 yr Hey Pat, thanks for getting back to me. I can't figure out why this won't work. I am using drivers71.89 as anything later does not work. I originally ran the s-video to a converter then out to my digital deck. I have a video mixing board from before the non-linear days of editing. I am going to try that. The reason I am doing this is so I can record and also monitor the video siginal at the same time. I think the converter might have been causing a problem. From what I can remember, the last time I tried to output from s-video, 800x600 was the the only resolution, and that looks horrible as far as I'm concerned. I wish my simulation system was more robust, then I would use gamecam or fraps. It's funny, I have a Mac G5 dual system that rocks, (Wishing FS9 ran on that.) yet my 2.1ghz AMD2800+ PC struggles. Anyway, I will give it another shot. I will post back here in case any other users need information. Have a good night. Best regards, Jeff
January 2, 200620 yr Tom -I use FRAPS to record video clips. Then I use Windows Movie Maker to assemble and edit the video. WMM also allows you to import music or other audio to add to the video. You can also do titles and credits and various transitions to go from clip to clip. It's really pretty easy and fun to do. I wouldn't consider myself an advanced movie maker, nor am I a real computer type, but I'm pretty satisfied with the results. My problems or limitations are mainly that FRAPS won't record while using a dual monitor set up (it crashes) and I can't make a video longer than 5-6 minutes (won't save to my computer) unless I devide it into segments. Actually you can make a pretty good movie in under 6 minutes keeping most of the clips 3-5 seconds in length. If you would like to discuss further or would like me to contact you real time. Let me know I'd be glad to help.Scott
