Patricio, if you have Aivlasoft's EFB, you can actually plot the Departure form 27L and the SID so you get an idea what the route looks like. I regularly use it to plan my SIDs and STARS as well as SimPlatesX Ultra to check the charts.

I started with MD-11 tutorial 1 again. Little excited when I found the SID DET2G as Mike told me and be able to continue with flight plan. When I started taxiing to the rwy 27L I became lost (lol). I had to stop to redo the tutorial (lol). I am happy to learn. I wonder why I have to enter an Alternate airport in the MCDU. I don't do that in 747 FMC. Also, from 747 or 777 FMC I enter the Arrival runway before take-off. I see from MD-11 the Arrival is entered on airborne. I might be wrong don't understand yet. I will found out on the way while flying.

I would consider the EFB or SimPlatesX Ultra after the MD-11 tutorial 1. I have too see the end of the MD-11 tutorial first. If I can work with the 747 and 777 FMC, Takeoff and landing then I should get the MD-11. Also, I am doing this tutorial to learn about instruments gauges while I am reading and practicing. Even though I have to do tutorials for the 747 and 777 because not all is clear for me yet. My plan also to learn the 737 NGX. I wish to be a Pilot but too late I guess.

Thanks for your suggestions regarding on EFB.

Flown MD-11 tutorial 1 and received MCDU message "ILS Untunable" right after moved flaps to 15 so I will try again. I might be skipped something. The autopilot didn't get FL100 from FL367 and from PFD another message "Protection". Not easy this bird.

The FMC is auto tuning the ILS based on your up-to-date Airac data.  But it is likely the frequency in FS9 is old and different.  (FSX also has much  out of date nav aid info.)  Use the FS9 Map to see what frequency is built into the LSZH scenery for Runway 14.  Then you can manually tune that frequency (and course) and you will be able to pick up the localizer & GS.

I believe that "protection" means you were going too fast for the flap setting you selected so the flap deployment was delayed or even flaps retracted by one notch.  Just use the speed brake to slow down and/or decrease your descent rate.

You are trying to follow a Tutorial and this is not a lightweight plane. PMDG writes out tuoriala based on how a Real-World flight would operate. And in the R/W, a flightplan always has an Alternative Airport in case of a diversion, traffic holds, etc. So, the FMC needs to calculate how much fuel you will need extra for such a diversion.

BTW, Patricio, you keep referring to the 747 and the 777. Which versions do you fly. The PMDG models? The very latest 747 and 777 from them? Do you create your own flightplan in these two aircraft or do you import them from another source?

I fly the latest PMDG 747 v3 and I have yet to see the option in my FMC for the Arrival airport Runway until  I am quite a long way into the flight.

You mean you only get to see the option for your arrival once in flight? As explained above, that is normal as it factors in ATC allocating a flight a landing runway when closer to the Arrival airport rather than 1000s of miles away. Impossible to happen in R/L.

I have the following:

a) 737-800/900 NGX and 737-600/700 NGX both version 1.10.6461

b) 747 V3 version 3.00.8189

c) 777-200LR/F and 777-300ER both version 1.10.7025

Operations Center said all up to date.

Yes, I create my own F/Plan for the 747 and 777 and I can enter the Arrival runway into FMC before Take-off. I never used SID/STAR. I can do Autoland with ILS but never tried VOR DME etc.

Unfortunately the MD-11 is not part of the Operations Center. Since I have all these planes I like more the MD-11 for right now (lol).

Yes, from MD-11 tutorial I only found the option to enter STAR once in flight. I guess I could enter SID and STAR on ground before take-off and if not allowable to enter STAR then must be entered in flight as it supposed to be as you say.

FS9 Map? Do you mean a Chart? Or, where to find the F/C inside of fs9 and FSX?

I thought the nav aid info is usable for all PMDG products. MD-11 found ILS Untunable and 747 or 777 the ILS works.

Regarding on PFD message as "Protection" you are right. I changed to flap 15 to early. I thought the speed brake is intended to be used only on runway while taxiing.

Same runway at the same airport? I know that the ILS frequency for Runway 14 at LSZH changed in about 2015.

Also, you are using FS9 for the MD-11 and FSX for the other PMDG aircraft.  Different sim = possibly different scenery.

That's why it is nested under Legacy Products. I do agree it is a lovely aircraft and I regularly fly it, but as Mike has pointed out, if you are using the MD-11 in FS2004, then the PMDG Tutorial you are attempting to use may be using FS2004 default scenery, and your recent Airac Cycle which you will have in MD-11's FMC, will logically not be able to auto-tune to an older airport's (LSZH) navaids.

I have the Aerosoft London Heathrow Extended for FS2004 and FSX and using AIRAC 1705 version 3. So, if MD-11 has issues with Frequency/Course in fs9 then will be the same in FSX, I guess so. I tried the tutorial with the scenery default, no differences.

I found some MD-11 video tutorials from youtube site to find out how to complete the MCDU setup. I am still watching them.

But in the tutorial the ILS approach is to Zurich/LSZH Runway 14.

Same Airport Departure/runway yes for the 747 and with Aerosoft London Heathrow Extended FS2004 FSX

I'm sorry but you are not making a whole lot of sense.  The ILS is only used for approaches, and the only approach in the  tutorial we were discussing is to Zurch LSZH Runway 14.  So scenery and departures for Heathrow has nothing to do with this issue.

I know but MD-11 can't do LOC/GS because of ILS Untunable message. I want to skip the tutorial because it won't work as intended due to the new AIRAC. So, now trying to learn how to program the MCDU. I feel more comfortable with FMC of 747 and 777. When I know MD-11 FMC programing then I can try different airport scenery.

I know the ILS is for Arrival approaches. I didn't have the chance to enter STARin MD-11 because of ILS Untunable message. But I think by learning the MCDU setup I can do a different Fly Plan, That's why my next step is watch video tutorials of MD-11 to learn the FMC programing. Then I will be able to do my own fly plan.

You can tune the frequency that's in FS9 manually -- in other words you can type it in directly yourself.  Look on the FS9 Map, which if I remember correctly is under the "World" tab.

I don't think it's a good idea to jump from one plane to another or give up on the tutorial because of a relatively minor problem.  You could just as easily run into an ILS tuning problem in another plane at another airport.
