June 10, 20178 yr Hi Mike. Great reply. Very positive and equally helpful to Patricio. Which is why I wanted some precise information as regards which aircraft, which sim, which etc. I posted those screenshots as I was hoping to illustrate to Patricio, much as you too observed that range of hills, they do not interfere with any landings or Zurich would not see any flights. Even on a G/A, I don't think they come into play. So, how Patricio came to be any where close to them I'm sure baffles you as much as it does me. Rick Almeida

June 11, 20178 yr Okay, Patricio, thanks for that list. You are more or less a fan of the PMDg range of aircraft !! LoL !!. A good choice but you must bear in mind these are not like any other aircraft. They have more systems depth, for starters. Okay, that done, what add-on scenery/airports do use for this routing? 36 minutes ago, trisho0 said: So sorry No need at all to say that. You have not offended either MIke or I. That's what this Avsim Community is all about----helping each other. Now, if you recall, I mentioned the use of SimPlatesX Ultra. Well, that IKL flag you saw in the FMC is in fact the ILS beacon at LSZH which has a Freq of 111.75 I'm currently flying the very same route, night flight, using the PMDG OOTS II, and it reflects that ILS Freq in the FMC NavRad. But if I turn to the Approach Plate for the same airport, same runway 14 using the AivlaSoft EFB, as you can see lower right corner, it has an out-of-date ILS14 Freq of 108.30, which I reckon the FS9 Navdata will also have. Hence the anomaly that exists when you fly the MD-11 in FS9 and the QOOTS II in FSX. I hope Mike pipes in here and agrees with my observations too. Rick Almeida

That's why thanks to all help I know to use the World/Map from sims and I can check on them prior to use the f/c. It seems to me I would have to go the airport arrival runway first with any plane, to check the freq/course from World/Map and then to prepare the flight plan from scratch. So, I can add in my flight notes the f/c for my flights. Patricio Valdes

Hi Rick and Patricio, Patricio, congrats on your successful ILS 14 approach in FSX! It should go just fine as long as you use the ILS frequency showing for Rwy 14 in the FS9 Map. Thanks for clearing up which aircraft you have and which sims you are using them in. Sorry if I was a little strong in my comments - I tried to not be too strong! Yes, Rick, you've shown very clearly the discrepancy between the current ILS frequency on the current chart, and the out-of-date frequency shown in the FS scenery (I take it that Aviasoft EFB gets its data from the FS scenery. I have Flight Sim Commander which does the same thing). Looking in both FS9 and FSX, with no addon scenery installed they both show 108.3 for Rwy 14. To fix these issues long term I usually install a recent AFCAD file from a reputable author. Ray Smith has done many AFCADs for FSX However he has not done one since ILS 14 was modified, so I recommend this one by Stefan Liebe (Avsim Library): https://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=190184 Note that this is for FSX ONLY! There may be ones for FS9 too. You can search "LSZH" in the Avsim Library under FS9>AFCADS & FS9>Scenery. Again AFCADs for FS9 don't work in FSX and visa versa. There are global updates available here but I haven't used it. http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html You can also buy payware scenery for many major airports, but if the scenery is not very recent it can have the same outdated information. Finally, as an exercise, take a look at the following Airports in FS9 and FSX: KORD, KSEA, KIAD. Then take a look at the current runway layout charts here (all from Flightaware.com, which also has up-to-date SIDs, STARs and Approaches for US airports): KORD: http://flightaware.com/resources/airport/ORD/APD/AIRPORT+DIAGRAM/pdf KSEA: http://flightaware.com/resources/airport/SEA/APD/AIRPORT+DIAGRAM/pdf KIAD: http://flightaware.com/resources/airport/IAD/APD/AIRPORT+DIAGRAM/pdf Mike

June 11, 20178 yr Author Another question: How to make looking the aircraft (outside view) passengers windows with light at night? And also, after landed and with brakes On, I pressed (trying to find what happens) the buttons AFS OVRD OFF 1 & 2. I hear a voice something related with autopilot..........How to stop that voice message? I had to power engines Off to stop that (lol). Patricio Valdes

Night landings require a tad more skills as you have no visual references, except relying on your instrumentation. 22 minutes ago, Mike777 said: Then take a look at the current runway layout charts here (all from Flightaware.com, which also has up-to-date SIDs, STARs and Approaches for US airports): Great links, Mike. But still an amazing plane no matter in fs9 or FSX. Patricio Valdes
