March 15, 200620 yr When Lago released it's 2004 version, many simmers were extremely disappointed, since the product seemed a far cry from what Lago produced for previous versions of FS. Include a buggy flightmodel, uneven and erratic support, and a close to useless manual - and Lago had a recipe for disaster on their hands. But a year has passed, and this product really has a come a long way. All the updates and patches have fixed the major problems - and there is now even a small community of dedicated (Lago) MD80 flyers, accessible via http://www.hilmerby.com. The second good piece of news is that the Jet City Aircraft are now fully compatible with the Maddog Version 1.51.The load manager and fuel editor is now also much improved. For me the problem is the lack of a good tutorial, taking the user through all phases of flight. Other than that, I'm now reasonably satisfied with my purchase. Lago has promised to add a virtual cockpit to the JCA planes, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen anytime soon.Edit: forgot to mention. Lago added an "Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System" EGPWS to the systems. ricardo
March 15, 200620 yr I'm using both the Lago and the Flight1 models and enjoy each one. There both slightly differant models. I'm glad Lago is starting to get their s**t together.Dave FisherCYYZP4 Prescott 3.2e 478p 800mhz 1mg CPUP4P800SE Asus Motherboard1.5 gig PC3200 DDR RAM 400MHZGeforce Ti 4200/128Maxtor 80 Gig ATA 133 HD x2WDC WD800 80 Gig HDhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpghttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg

March 15, 200620 yr I concur with Dillon on this one; Lago has along way to go before I can give them any type of credit. The Lago Maddog is great as long as you fly during the day. The VC at night is horrible. Like Bill Leaming stated, there is no reason for a developer that charges for their product to have a dark VC in this day and age (Ooh, I forgot there is a blood red dome light). Bill has put up a how to on the subject and yet we still have Lago with a product that uses FS2000 type night lighting.I post a vote of 'No Confidence' in Chancellor Lago's direction. Until they can get basic things like night lighting and that updated JCA model fully transferred over (VC included), this bird stays uninstalled on my system. I happen to like flying in all kinds of conditions and that includes Dusk and Night operations... :-)O.K. now I'm off my soap box... *:-* :-hah
March 15, 200620 yr I agree that the updated Lago MD80 is a keeper, especially when added to the JetCity MD80 models. That's a result of a good developer who, for whatever reason, made a pretty flawed decision to hitch their wagon to the likes of Lago and their infamously bad customer support. As Chuck Yeager once said..."Sometime you get a pooch that can't be scr**ed..."CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de ChileZippy CPU with a zippier FSBScreeching fast video card with oodles of VRAM RAM out the wazooGargantuan HDDBill Gates' Finest OSIn a honkin' big case"If it doesn't have a VC I don't care" Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
March 16, 200620 yr I completed a couple of flights today, and am overall quite pleased with the flight model, especially with the new airfile. Loc/GS interception was smooth, and I had no problem slowing down the plane to vref, although the plane has quite a nose-up attitude during landing. Couldn't get the autoland to work, though. In fact, I couldn't get any of the automatic flight systems to work correctly, pressing this and that button. This plane really needs a well written and competent flight tutorial. The included documentation is almost completely worthless. ricardo
March 16, 200620 yr Hi Ricardo, there's a basic tutorial here in the library :http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...misc&DLID=65478Also Stellans 'Flying SA MD80' description might be helpful :http://www.hilmerby.com/md80/md_flying.htmlOnce stable on the ILS (ILS and LOC TRK green on the FMA), you can select Autoland. The ILS frequency must be set on both NAV1 and NAV2.Mike
