Questions Regarding 737 Autoland

Featured Replies

Hello!

I am just getting into Flight Simming and so far it is amazing! For the PMDG Autoland feature for the 737 do I need to have digital standby instruments or can I have analog standby instruments? Personally I like the analog standby more, but I haven’t been able to complete an Autoland with them, and in every video I have seen they have had digital standby instruments, however the digital standby instruments are the default for PMDG, so I was thinking they might not have changed it from the default. Sorry, I know this was kind of a stupid question... Any help is appreciated!

Sincerely,

Jelly

I've completed many autolands in aircraft with analog standby instruments. Have you tried doing an autoland wth digital standby instruments? It sounds like you might be missing a step somewhere along the line.

Best regards,

The Digital ISFD is part of the Fail Operationel Autoland system as i recall from my head.

Without it (Analog) you can make a Fail passive Autoland

Welcome to the forums. Please sign your posts with you real name first and last as per regulations.

I am using the analogues ones and never had an issue. You are definitely missing something in your procedures.

Don't know if this video is known to you :

OK, he has the digital standby instruments, but this guy clearly explains how to perform an autoland.

Just make sure you tune both nav-radio's to the desired ILS-freq and engage the second autopilot before (800 RA ?) a certain altitude.

Also both course selectors must be dialed to the desired runway heading.

Succes ...

Thanks for the help. I’ll look at some tutorials to make sure I’m not missing a step.
