  1. For the money, the iFly is an amazing aircraft. It all boils down to how casual or how hardcore of a simmer you see yourself as. For me, the iFly is more than "in-depth" enough, not to justify me paying 140 quid for the PMDG version.
  2. Yeah, you have to disable the AS viewing system in the right MCDU, otherwise they will conflict. Not really a problem, as Ezdok is much better. I won't get near my PC until tomorrow at the earliest but I'll test out what you asked.
  3. Works for me too. Thanks again Kevin, and thanks Aaron for starting this thread. Otherwise I never would have bothered looking for a solution lol.
  4. Wow thanks from me too Kevin. I'll be trying this out as soon as I get a chance. Looks like a real solution too.
  5. I don't know if AS themselves have ever commented on it, but I've seen various people mention it before. To me it's a very minor problem that I can easily live with. (It seems to be the same as your problem, but instead of the overhead, I get the sky). I have many problems in the simming world, and having to make an extra push of a button to get an external view to appear is about 387th on the list. You could try mentioning it over on the Aerosoft forums. You never know, you might get lucky.
  6. I got this a few times before, although it was on the 737. But the same principle applies. For me it was a case of forgetting to hit the execute button on the FMC.
  7. There is a known quirk about odd behaviour when switching from internal to external in the AS Airbus. In my case, when I hit the shortcut key, it switches to a view of the sky, so I have to press the key again to get it to display the correct external view.
  8. It's because of things like this that you receive "the love, support and understanding it has so generously given our A320-X product" as you so eloquently put it. Unlike certain other developers who I won't name. Kudos to you for that.
  9. This whole debate between game/simulation is getting boring now. To some it's a game and to others it a simulation. People have different opinions. Who would've thought it.

Ok, I'll try rolling all the sliders back as an experiment, although I won't get near it until tomorrow. However, if it's case that I need to sacrifice a bit of basic scenery or airport terminal buildings just to get the clock running on time, I think I can live with the clock issue

Hi Kyle, thanks for the reply. I can tell you my display settings are already set quite low in P3D as it's the only way I can keep a usable frame rate. As for the system clock, I wouldn't know what to check, but it definitely seems to be keeping good time.

Ok, first of all I thought I was imagining it, but after doing a test I know I'm not. The CHR timer is running a bit slow. Very slow in fact. It's actually losing 9 seconds for every minute. In other words it's taking 69 seconds to make a full revolution. Am I doing something wrong here or am I missing something simple? I'm not a real world pilot and I don't consider myself to be overly clever when it comes to flight simming either. I can just about do the basics. But one thing I can do is add and subtract numbers. So can someone please give me an answer?
  13. Well there is only one version of ASN for FSX as far as I know. And the same version is used for both Steam and non-Steam versions. So I don't see why it wouldn't hold true.
  14. As I understood it, the OP was talking about transferring his addons to P3D. People are talking about changing from ASN to AS2016. I don't think that's what he's asking about. If he has ASN for FSX, he can download the P3D version of ASN at no extra cost. Am I missing something?
  15. If your PC can handle FSX it should also be able to handle P3D just as easily. That's just my personal experience with a few different PCs. In contrast to the above, I say go for it. If you don't like it (you will), LM offer a 60 day refund as far as I'm aware. They also have a cheaper option of a monthly licence (although I don't know how this works exactly) and as far as I'm aware you can opt out any time if you're not happy. Yes, there are rumours that the next version of P3D will be 64bit and yes this will more than likely break compatibility with older addons but this is probably more than a year away. And even if and when they do release version 4 64bit, how many more years will we have to wait before all our addons will be updated to work on the new version? Plus we'll probably have to pay for them again anyway. As for your current FSX addons, in my experiece most will work in P3D. Some you just need to reinstall, some you need to download again (for free) and a few (like PMDG products) you will have to pay for again, at a steeper price than their FSX counterpart. It's a bit of work setting it all up again and installing addons again, but well worth it in my opinion.
  16. Performance ie low framrate. Easily. Without a doubt. Any other issues are just in a lower league.
  17. That's a fair point Richard.
  18. You seem to have a different problem to the OP. Do you have the same problem with every aircraft? Or is it just one in particular?
  19. I'm almost certain if you go into your scenery.cfg you can delete the Orbx entries or edit them (I have no idea which) and that will disable the Orbx scenery.
  20. I've no problem running both on the same machine. The only reason I have both is because (like Mark said above) I'm not willing to pay for the PMDG 777 again. I'm just glad I made the change to P3D BEFORE buying the NGX. Both give me similar framerates, but P3D looks far prettier. To be honest I don't really use FSX as much as I used to. But when I do, there's a couple of things I need to do. I need to make sure that PFPX and ProATC is reading the Active Sky Next weather file from the FSX location rather than the P3D location (only takes a minute to change it) and remember to set it back when I'm finished. Also, if using ProATC you need to go into the options and tell it which sim you're using. Again, only takes a minute.
  21. Just buy a cheap joystick on Amazon for about €20 with throttle/rudder control on it. Problem solved. People that ask this question about addon aircraft amaze me. Why would you pay big money for an addon aircraft, especially something with deep simulation like this, and then attempt to fly it with a keyboard? At the very least, get yourself a cheap joystick. It doesn't need to be top of the range.
  22. If by "got used to it" you mean the menu layouts and shortcut keys etc, P3D uses pretty much the same basic layout as FSX. The initial interface is different but it's very straightforward to understand. The only add on that won't work as already mentioned, is the NGX. It costs slightly more for the P3D version too :( . However, there's absolutely nothing to stop you running both sims on the same machine.
  23. Jeff I was following this thread from the sidelines and it's only now that something has struck me. You say you have FSUIPC installed. Did you try deleting your fsuipc.ini file, load FSX and let a new one rebuild? I'm on P3D myself, but I remember something similar happening to me where my P3D install got corrupted (different synthoms to do though) and deleting the ini file fixed it. Although maybe you've already started the uninstall procedure and I'm too late to the party. You never know. Luck of the Irish and all that. It might fix it
  24. Probably the biggest clickbait thread title ever seen on Avsim
  25. Ok, sorry boss. Won't happen again.
