March 20, 200620 yr Hi everyoneThis is my first post on AvsimI was just wondering what versions of FS you are using, this might come as a shock to all you FS2004 pilots but I am currently using FS98 (Retro or What!!)I will upgrade someday but at the mo my computer wouldn't handle anything over FS2K (which my bro tried to find to give me as a birthday present but couldn't find a copy in the shops) But don't get me wrong I would love to have FS2004 if my computer could handle it and to have more realistic looking planes and proper looking terminals filled with traffic instead of the empty boxy terminals I have on FS98So my question again is anyone like me using FS98 or are the main of you on FS2004Rooman
March 20, 200620 yr Welcome to the forums!I use FS2002 and FS2004--both have various uses on my system. I have to ask, what are the system specs of the system you're running '98 on? You may be surprised at what FS2002 can manage--it runs better than FS2000 before it and will run under Windows 98.-John
March 20, 200620 yr Hi JohnThe specs are:Processor Intel Celeron 500mhz64mb of ram shared with the graphics8.4 gb hard drive52-32-52 CDRWWindows 98SEi have another question as well would scenery add more 'shapely' terminals I tried with one that I thought was an add-on for my beloved MAN to put in the second runway and some static traffic at the terminals but it just created a separate airport a mile away with runways you can't land on because they get smaller and smaller when you approach them and the static planes also look terrible no liveries on themthanksrooMAN
March 21, 200620 yr Right on! I still have FS98 with all my addons on my F drive- I still fire it up now and then , because the innovations that appeared near the end of FS98's commercial life, lived on for another two versions (Eric Ernst's 767 panel to name one). I use FS2002 now, mainly because I have alot of addons and scenery etc. Not to mention, that with the help of AVSIM's library, there's alot of life left in this sim yet. Cheers!
March 21, 200620 yr Only FS9 but I can see me keeping FS9 well after the release of FSX because of the number of addons I have that will need to be made compatible with FSX before I abandon FS9, and with some of the recent environment addons like FE and GE plus super high frame rate sceneries, and sublime aircraft like PMDG, LDS and Flight1, my FS9 already feels like a new version. I'll just get a second HDD and install FSX on there.Best wishesIsmet Tingoose (formerly Jennifer)
March 21, 200620 yr I'm still on 2k2 but am saving up for a new comp at the end of the year/begining of next year and will then, probably, jump straight to FSX. But we'll see about that :-)http://online.vatsimindicators.net/916312/3.png Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
March 22, 200620 yr FS2004 mostly with countless add ons, sometimes FS2002 with some add ons, rarely X-plane, rarely combat flight sims on my current rig. Still have FS98 and FS95 on my older computers (I have 4 on a lan) but only use if I am feeling nostalgic.
March 22, 200620 yr Author I'm using Flight Simulator 3 (disregard the banners and statement below, the old stuff rocks)... :-hah FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
March 22, 200620 yr Just upgraded to a AMD 3500+, and still use FS2002. Will keep using FS2002 for a very long time, because I now have all the add-ons I need, with all the scenery I need. Tweaking and adding add-ons can be fun, but I've invested too many hours tweaking and modifying FS2002. I'd rather be flying...
