Sky textures change when ASP4 refreshes

Featured Replies

Hello all! I've reached out to both TOGA and ASP4 so far, but I wanted to drop this here to see if anyone is getting similar issues. So i have my textures with ENVTEX, and I have ASCA+ENVTEX integration enabled. When I'm in the sim, it seems to load my sky textures that I select from ENVTEX, but when ASP4 gets its updated weather info and refreshes, it completely changes the sky textures to something completely different, like a green haze. To remedy this, I go into my graphics settings, CHANGE NOTHING, go back into the simulator and boom, everything is fine again. It's more frustrating than anything as I did not have this issue on V3. I've attached some pics to give you and idea of how the textures change. I've uninstalled both ENVTEX and ASP4 to see if that helped but the problem persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try running AS4 and ENVTEX without ASCA.  ASCA is the program that changes the textures on the fly.

Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

Open up your ASCA UI, click on "settings". Under Enabled Content UNCHECK "sky colors" and APPLY.  Now AS4  will not change any of your "LAST" inserted texture choices for "SKY".

That's just a workaround. The issue is that the sky shouldn't change unless the metar/time change.  something is triggering the change, hopefully Hifi or TOGA can determine what.

Hi Sean,

What setting did you choose in Envtex's "ASCA integration"?
If you use ASCA + Envtex, just set it to Envtex textures only and leave all your ASCA settings as they are.

The issue could be linked by the fact that some Envtex and ASCA sky textures are completely different, while if you force ASCA to use only Envtex sky textures, they will fit much better together.

Hope this will help :)

I’m noticing that the sky flashes a lot and it appears to be something with the volumetric sky. What I did was change to one of the REX PTA presets. I also am having ASCA manage everything. Previously I had Soft Coiuds manage cloud textures and I noticed I was not getting any clouds at some points of the flight.
