JF PA-28R Arrow III & Turbo Arrow III/IV query

Featured Replies

JF have one of their buy one get another discounted etc deals going.

I am trying to figure out if the 28R Arrow III is sufficiently different to the Turbo version as regards flight performance or some other factor, to warrant having both.

Or just get the Turbo Arrow III/IV package & be done with it?

Anyone got both Arrow III's & have an opinion whether it's worth having both??

Thanks

They are both highly recommended, but if you just want one, then get the Turbo version. It allows you the freedom to go a little higher for those flights in the mountains.

They are all worth having, but given that there are three different Cherokee variants from JF, you might not want them all, I do have them all, since they are all nice and there's a big perfromance difference between the basic PA-28 (which is great for practicing circuits) and the fancier ones, however, the Turbo one will give you more options if you just get one of them alone, so that'd be the one to go for first.

I am circling and wondering what to pick besides the Turbo Arrow III/IV bundle - I have the DC-10, the L-1011 and the DC-8 series. I am not necessarily looking for another GA aircraft and I am not in military AC.
Are the Fokker Friendship, the HS 748 or the One Eleven any good?

Thanks a lot

Hi T45

Let me add right at the outset that I have tarted up all my Arrows' nav display with Flight 1's fantastic GTN 650-750.

Originally, for a change to attractiveness of C441 Conquest and to the classic Texan T6 etc, I wanted a GA plane that was realistic and familiar to me; at my local Wellesbourne Mountford airfield in Warwickshire.

After reading reviews, in particular the excellent Mutley's Hangar website, Just Flight's Piper Arrow III became available. I wasn't then aware of the Turbo versions and 'bundle' offer. So I bought the Arrow III and, based on that enjoyable experience, gained trust and respect for Just Flight and so then bought the Turbo Arrows III & IV. Absolutely no regrets!

I definitely enjoyed my flight early this morning in the Arrow III (from Ronaldsway, Isle of Wight to Glasgow airport). Yesterday, I had a great time with the Turbo Arrow (III) from Swansea to Isle of Wight. This just reminded me of the differences (and of course, similarities) between the Arrow and the Turbo versions.

Outside appearance, including in flight, both planes look really great, highly realistic; not too glossy and nothing cheap or amateurish in the graphics.

Inside the cockpit, the Arrow III is wonderfully aged and mucky (whereas the Turbo has a smarter and cleaner look)

You really have to fly the Arrow, it doesn't just glide along the rails. In flight, feeling like you're giving the plane a push, 85% throttle, I cruised at 120 kts. (the Turbo is much keener and goes well beyond that speed).

The Arrow has an atmospheric throaty sound (whereas the Turbo is more regular, less deep, motorised sound (sorry T45, couldn't think of better word)).

I find this "rawness" of the Arrow III highly satisfying at a personal level (whereas the Turbo has more of a "wow!" to the onlooker). I don't mind having to work harder to fly it; even at its pedestrian speed.

(When I want to fly much longer and faster then I might choose other twin turbo's). Just Flight's Arrow AND Turbo Arrow III & IV are in my Premier Division of favourite planes to fly around UK and Ireland each week.

The 'bundle' would have been a bit more economical for me but I guess that you aren't really blown off course by price, rather you just don't want to waste dosh. Treat yourself!

Happy flying
