For Those Using AM

Featured Replies

I'm running Affinity Mask 85 with HT on obviously on a 4 core. This means that P3D is running on the 4 physical cores, 0,2,4,6. My question is for those running this AM, where are you putting your background programs like Activesky, ACARs, ASCA, TrackIR? Currently I have it on virtual cores, LP5 and LP7. Want to make sure I have it set up correctly.

I always thought that an AM with v4 was unnecessary as v4 already uses what it can in terms of cores with an AM making little to no difference.

I've found that the other half of physical core 1 is the most consistently under-tasked by P3D.  The cores beyond core 1 load way up during texture loading.  Also, P3Dv4 seems to make use of HT for texture loading, so I enable both sides of cores 3-4 to that end (AM=245 / 0xF5 / 11110101).  I set other processes to AM=8 (or 12 / x0C if they use Simconnect and need a second LP)

What LP's are your add-ons using?

Eric

AM=244 here (11 11 01 00).  I fly GA exclusively and have only two add-ons: using an AM=3 for Active Sky, and AM=2 for the Flight1 GTN.  This config gives me the smoothest performance on my 4790K @ 4.8GHz/16GB/1080.

HTH,

Greg

I'm  also using 85 for P3D on a 4790K.

For all other programs/addons I use an AM of 168, which assigns them to LP 3,5,7.

Most important thing is to keep everything off LP 0,1. That's the key for a smooth experience.

"I set other processes to AM=8 (or 12 / x0C if they use Simconnect and need a second LP)".  AM=8 is 00001000, 12 is 00001100.  That's LP 3, or 2+3 if it uses Simconnect.
