Single digit 5 FPS On P3Dv4.1 -- help

Featured Replies

Hello...I have two high end systems that I use for flight simulation for both FSX and P3D. The FSX computer has Nvidia Quadro GPUs for simultaneous multi screen stereo 3D (I'm working on creating my own dedicated 3D stereo simulator -- long story.) It runs FSX at between 30-60 FPS with all the graphics settings at maximum.   The other computer has a 4960X six core GPU over clocked to 4125 Mhz and six 3D 144hz displays connected to an AMD W9100 GPU with also a W8000 that drives other displays.  After upgrading P3Dv4.1 I'm getting really low FPS in the 4-6 range when before v4.1 on this machine I was getting 20-30 at maximum graphics settings.

I've played with the anti aliasing, terrain mesh, weather texture sizes, etc but it doesn't make much of a difference. I still get the same low FPS.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks :)

Hello TallTanBarbie

Try these small steps first.

Delete the Prepar3D.cfg file and the Shaders folder.  Both of these are generated file \ folder and will generate again as default when Prepar3D is launched next.

Copy the 2 set's of Tex below and Paste them into your Windows search bar, One by One and click on the result,  this will bring you directly to the correct locations

Delete the Prepar3D.cfg file

%APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

Delete the Shaders folder

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4

After you complete this launch Prepar3D and test

-----------------

Additional information:

You will just need to adjust your Graphic \ Scenery settings again to your preference via  Prepar3D > Options after you delete the Prepar3D.cfg file

The Shaders will take between 10 seconds and 2 minute to generate again after you delete the Shaders folder

that gfx card isn't meant for gaming?

Six 4K displays connected to 1 AMD W9100 ? !

That card is slower than a 1080 and will not run with good performance.

Hopefully you are not trying to run multiple outside views too..

It's been over clocked with water cooling added. :)

I do scientific visualization work and you can't do synchronized, more than three screens stereo 3D with consumer grade GPUs or double precision math either.

I've written my own 3D stereo simulator using quad buffer stereo OpenGL but it's on Linux. Windows 3D is still stuck on DX9 so only FSX will let you do it on Windows.

Hi Poppet -- Deleting the shaders folder and .cfg file worked.

I'm running six forward view displays on one GPU and four left/right side on on another GPU so even with overclocking and and crossfire I don't expect super performance but just enough to make it flyable at high resolution/terrain mesh.

Wow

Looks like an overload to me.

Try disconnecting 2 of the displays and if everything speeds up, problem solved.

Just because something fits does not mean it will work.

You can load 5 tons on a 1/2 ton pickup but you cant go anywhere.

Hi --- took off left and right side view projections.  Getting around 10-12 FPS.  Not bad for this setup with AMD professional GPUs. I'm trying to get the get the right balance between the number of displays that run simultaneously and performance before networking computers together.  Six to eight seems to be the limit on performance so far.  The goal is eventually to get three networked machines with six displays each frame locked with S400 cards for 3D stereo projection for a total of eighteen monitors in a 30° x 270° arc.  I'm developing a 3D stereo training system that uses commercial off the shelf components that's cheaper than million dollar systems that aerospace companies make.  I've worked on those too and the home stuff is almost as good or better in a lot of cases. You can't do this kind of thing with a VR headset that doesn't allow physical interaction with controls, etc.

I'd show you but can't seem to upload pictures here.
