747 ILS frequency setting

Featured Replies

Hi

I downloaded 747 V3 about 2 days ago

and today first flight for testing ILS approach...

when i check the frequency and course on a chart, there is no input knob on the pedestal...i mean no way to set frequency..only exist VHF

Does it automatically set freq of ILS like 777?

I usually flying with 737 ..so I think freq setting will be required ...because 747 model is a little old

Please advice me..

Thanks..

Click on your user name on top right. Select Account settings and signature. Put your name, first and last in the signature box and save.

I think he is asking about manual tuning of the nav radios which I believe in PMDG aircraft is not included.

Raymind,

09L at  LHR  ILS freq is 110.30. 113.60 is the LON VOR

Sorry yes 113.60 is ok for Heathrow vor I meant 9L-27R 110.30 , 9R -27L 109.50

The CDU will come back with Invalid Entry

You must put the frequency and course on NAVRAD at where it says ILS. If you try to put only the ILS freq it will not work. So for 9R you need to enter 109.50/092 or what ever the crs is

This manual ILS tuning is also used when you need to activate the PVD for takeoff in poor visibility i.e. <150m.  When safely airborne (eg in the climb above 10,000ft), it will be necessary to use the FMC DEL key in order to clear the manually tuned ILS and allow the FMS to autotune the ILS for the destination arrival runway.

Incidentally, the ILS should also be manually tuned in this way if you are planning to fly circuits on the same runway at the departure airfield.
