April 25, 200620 yr Hi. I have a problem with the autopilot dials & buttons on a number of panels - I'm afraid I haven't worked out exactly which panels yet, but it certainly comes up with more than one. I notice it a lot however with one (otherwise very nice) Posky B757-200 panel (cs_b757_panel.zip on AVSIM)...Suddenly, when I go to change the IAS setting, for instance, I find it will only move up or down in units of ten - so if I am at 300 kias, I can go to 290, 310, but not in between. Setting the AP altitude is even more inconvenient - it only moves in units of 1000, so if I am at 25,500', "descend to 20,000'" isn't possible. It'd have to be 20500 or 19500.And then the next second, the problem has gone. And then it comes back for a few minutes - then disappears again: and so it goes on. As I say, I have noticed this before, but having just installed the above panel I am very aware of it at the moment. Can anyone shed any light on the problem? I have tried hard to see if there is more than one click spot, by the way - one which would move the dials more raplidly, but that is definitely not the case.Thank you,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
April 26, 200620 yr Gauge movement increments are built into the design of the gauge themselves, this is why different aircraft respond differently in this regard. Most will increment by ones then after a few seconds jump up to hundreds or thousands. I believe PMDG solved the problem by having 2 clickpoints. Click on top of the knob will increment by thousands, click on bottom will increment by ones. However the developer designed it I don't believe the user can change this! April 26, 200620 yr If there really were two click points, that'd be fine of course, but for much of the time it is impossible to change the dials by the normal smaller increments. I manage to get around it mostly - if necessary disengage the AP and fly to the desired level - and the panel I mentioned is very nice in most other respects (no autobrake though?). If I put the panel into a differnet aircraft, are you saying I might not get these problems? Thanks for the reply ...M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)

If you use a different panel you will see whatever that developer used etc... Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
April 26, 200620 yr Do you have a registered copy of FSUIPC? If so, click on the Technical tab (I think that's what its called) and find the checkbox labeled "Fix control acceleration" (again, I'm going from memory here so the caption may be worded slightly differently). At any rate, put a checkmark in that box and that should fix your problem. This is a known problem on some panels/gauges and Pete Dowson has been working on it for several years.R-
April 26, 200620 yr Author You may also wish to try to use your mouse wheel to increase or decrease the units. This sometimes works. John
April 26, 200620 yr Funny thing to programme into a gauge Tom - it makes using the AP very hard at times if it can't be over-ridden! I sent the author of the panel a note - don't know if I'll get a reply.I only have an unregistered FSUIPC at the moment. Will try the mouse wheel, never thought of that. I have my FS9 set up with a Nostromo N52 keypad and a Saitek X52 controller, so rarely have to touch a mouse or keyboard these days. I have also set up all my larger aircraft so that, at a click of one of the Nostromo buttons, I get a mini AP panel appear in the top-right hand of the screen in spot view. I find this very useful, for quick changes to the AP without having to switch back to cockpit view (which, with 'heavy' panels, can cause a bit of a jolt). Interestingly, this little AP panel ( a completely different one to the one in the main panel) also sticks at tens and thousands units at the same time as the main gauges in the cockpit. Not quite worked out yet what that implies ....M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
April 26, 200620 yr You learn something every day! The mouse wheel works the AP controls fine, even when they are 'misbehaving'. I've been "MSFSing" for three years at least and never knew that would work. Who would have thought?! (Well, you would, clearly!).Thanks for the tip John..Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
April 26, 200620 yr John! You da man! I didn't know that the wheel would work like that. No ore suffering!Best regardsJan1,KINDWhen I push the button and it works, I'm happy:-)
