More new busses!

Featured Replies

There's a saying in England (and maybe elsewhere) that seems very apt: you wait ages for a bus, then two come along together. Only days after PMDG announced that they are developing an A320, I read this press release from Wilco:http://www.wilcopub.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=NEWS_PR_MAYGood news for all those Airbus fans!Boogie.

Let's wait and see....

Agreed. Unfortunately, however, there are always those with a fixed prejudice against particular developers who will tell us the product is no good before it is even released. As you say, let's just wait and see.Still, more choice can't be a bad thing...I can see from your user name that you are an Airbus fan. Hopefully, one of the new busses will be what you (and many others) are seeking.Boogie.

Peter Wilding as well? I didn't know that. It seems that three busses all turn up at once! :-) Boogie.

I always thought the PSS airbus was remarkable. One of my favorites. Only thing I hated was their repaint policy and selling skin sets. i would support another top quality airbus for the sole reason of defeating this policy.Eric

Yes, the PSS A320 is also one of my favourites - definitely the oldest aircraft in my 'hangar' that I still go back to regularly. Their repaint policy is a bit strange, although there are plenty of user repaints on their site.Boogie.

hmm, Wilco once again copies someone elses' idea? They did exactly the same thing when PSS announced their A320 series. They did it when PSS announced their 777.I think they've done is more often than that.Could be coincidence, but I don't really believe in coincidences.

their policy of selling liveries separate is a main reason I like PSS.They won't have me paying for creating a hundred liveries I don't want...

I had intended this thread to have a positive message. I don't think there's any evidence that Wilco or feelthere have copied someone else's idea (after all, people have been crying out for a new Airbus). The press release suggests that they have already put a lot of time into planning these products, and states that development is already underway. The timing of the release may obviously just be a response to PMDG's announcement. Boogie.

I doubt Wilco is going to begin a major development effort of an airbus just because PMDG or whoever announces they are going to build one. Otherwise they'd be building everything that is announced. It is much more likely that this has been in the works for a while and following PMDG's announcement Wilco decided to let everyone know that they have one in development too. The timing of their announcement was probably dicated by PMDG's announcement--and that's just good business sense, you react to your competitors--but the decision to build one was made a while ago. Anyway, more is better.billg

MarkAre you saying that Peter Wilding is planning on releasing an Airbus too?

I'll reserve judgement for later but i will say i hope it is better than their other series....

Sounds to me though that PMDG A320 is a long way off. I think it's MD11 for FS9 and then 737X and A320 for FSX. I figure you have a couple of years to wait. I am sure by then there will be new things a developer can do and it will be time to have newer aircraft. I think everthing goes in cycles. I am always happy to have a choice see what developer can do what.
