May 3, 200620 yr Hi Simmers, I happened to notice the other day that there is now well over 1000 textures available for Flight Sim that I have created over the years. This does not include the many hundreds of textures that I have done for various Virtual Airlines and several designs that I have done for Real Airlines and aircraft.Access to these textures is of course available through my site at:http://www.gjsmith.netI have been tinkering with textures since the very first release of Flight Sim 95 (lightly experimenting) until FS98 came out and then I got really addicted to texture repainting. I have persisted and survived through thick and thin for a lot of years now and most of it has been great fun.Fortunately over the years I have been able to achieve some notoriety (some good and some bad) for my work with many releases of my creations through hundreds of Flight Sim sites, various magazines and other medias. I wont bore you with statistics, other than that for over 10 years, I have been pumping out textures and providing them to simmers throughout the world. Download rates are consistently in the many hundreds of thousands each year. My tinkerings go back to early 1996 and in those days, through to early 2001, they were provided through my business site (www.gjsmith.com) In 2002 I created GJSmith.NET to specifically cater to the simming needs of the community. For those who would like to have a look as just some of my work, below are a few slide shows of my Textures and other Flight Simulation work across a broad spectrum of textures and scenery creation. http://www.gjsmith.net/public/Transload_Carriers.jpgCollection of images for Transload Carriershttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/Transload_Carriers.htmlhttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/Transload_Scenery.jpgCollection of images for Transload International Airport Sceneryhttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/Transload_Scenery.htmlhttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/Transload_AI_Traffic.jpgCollection of images for Transload AI Traffichttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/Transload_AI_Traffic.htmlhttp://www.gjsmith.net/images/Textures/YTMD-SS.jpgCollection of images for Transload Military Base YTMD http://www.gjsmith.net/private/Transload/T..._Base_YTMD.htmlhttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/G_J__Smith.jpgCollection of images of some GJSmith liverieshttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/G_J__Smith.htmlhttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/FlyScotJet_com_3.jpgCollection of images for FlyScotJet Airlines http://www.gjsmith.net/public/FlyScotJet_com_3.htmlhttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/MJC_Dash_8.jpgCollection of images for the MJC Dash 8http://www.gjsmith.net/public/MJC_Dash_8.htmlhttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/mikestone.jpgCollection of images for Transload Flights (Slide Show created by CEO Transload)http://www.gjsmith.net/public/mikestone.htmlhttp://www.gjsmith.net/public/IFC_Aircraft.jpgCollection of images for IFC Liveries (2005)http://www.gjsmith.net/public/IFC_Aircraft.html Each slide show is approximately 1.5meg in size - Click on image to run a html version of the slide show. All very safe and quite entertaining. You will notice that in some of the slide shows that I have done some tinkering in "FS Scenery" - my first excursion was with modifying the Carrier 2006 package into a dedicated TRANSLOAD Virtual Airline package - creating tons of special textures and modifying many aircraft to work as AI for the package.I have become more adventurous since with the creation, from scratch up, of the Transload International Airport and just recently the Transload Military Base YTMD.Note: The Transload Scenery is available through Transload Virtual Airlines - one of the biggest VA's on the net with hundreds of liveries created by, you guested it, me: http://www.transloadairlines.comAnyway, just wanted to let you know that I am still tinkering and still trying to provide the flight sim community with things that will bring enjoyment and fun to their flight sim flying. So if your having a quite day and want to get hold of some fun textures and aircraft - then pop on over to http://www.gjsmith.net and have a browse, I am sure that there is something there that you will enjoy.Regards and as always, happy simming. May 3, 200620 yr Hi Garry,Let me the first one to congratulate you for being so prolific. Being myself a painter, far from matching your skills in this domain, I know exactly what investment it is to produce a such amount of textures and the fact that your efforts have not always been recognized at their fair values. Thanks for sharing your time with us in order to bring amazing textures for the flightsim community.Kind regards,Vincent Mellinger
May 3, 200620 yr Thanks for all of your hard work ... it is much appreciated :). I've got one of your C-5 textures installed ;-)---------------------------------------"If it doesn't have a VC, I won't be flying it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/DarrenA300/smug.gif" ... hang on a minute .... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/DarrenA300/unsure.gif ... that is too restrictive! Most flight simulator planes don't have a fully functional VC .... I'm happy to fly non-VC planes such as the brilliant iFDG range, Samdim's fantastic aircraft, POSKY's wonderful planes, and many many others! I'm the richer for it :).[/b]Advice for uploaders: please remove those horrible thumbs.db files - they are useless :) Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
May 3, 200620 yr Awesome website and great textures and aircraft! Thanks for all your hard work.JimYoung

May 4, 200620 yr Hi Simmers,Thank you for your kind words - appreciated. I started tinkering with textures with the original intent to simply add some variety to my sim. I enjoyed the challenge and the luxury of being able to put just about anything onto an aircraft. When FS2000 opened up the reflective capabilities then I got totally addicted to pushing the graphics boundaries of the sim and started to have a ball tinkering and sharing those tinkers. Now, many years down the track, I still enjoy the challenges of repainting both realistic and fantasy liveries so undoubtedly, there will be many more to come.Again, thank you for your support.Regards and happy simming.
