January 24, 20188 yr How come Prepar3Dv4 starts on it's own after warm PC reboot? I've seen it several times already. I think I saw somebody complained about this somewhere on this forum specifically about Prepar3Dv4. It's crazy. Thanks!
January 25, 20188 yr Author Hi Dirk, You've got me stumped on that one! Never had that happen to me. If we ignore the fact that the P3D executable is unloaded shortly after exiting the program then this behaviour must confirm that the runtime code (?) remains intact in memory during a warm reboot. However, how the application starts again spontaneously on returning to the desktop is difficult to explain.....unless, of course, somehow P3D has been configured in Windows to run at startup? I suggest you run the MSConfig utility and check. Regards, Mike
January 25, 20188 yr That can be caused by a bad stop of P3D , latest win 10 changes will restart any app that was not properly closed at system shutdown... Jorge

At least on my rig, the proper closing of P3D takes almost as long as firing it up (exaggerated). No such irksome issues with Windows7. I'm sure this change of behaviour was well intentioned as it may be important for some Applications to exit gracefully, think Windows for example or where the crash has occurred before work has been saved. However, I'm finding it hard to believe that this is really necessary for P3D as all you are likely to lose are any configuration changes made during a session. Also, following a system restart your first instinct is likely to be to run the App to make sure it's still working and has not suffered any damage. I'm assuming this change in Windows10 does not discriminate between Apps and so, potentially, all are likely to be affected by it. Stop complaining folks, Microsoft (Big brother?) knows best...groan! If you are running Win 10, this is a "feature" added ti the Fall Creator's Update. Old behavior: When you shut down your PC, all applications are closed. After the reboot/restart, you have to re-open any application you would like to use. New behavior: When shutting down your PC, any open apps are “bookmarked” (for the lack of better word). After reboot/restart, these apps will re-open automatically. Google "win 10 shutdown applications reopening" and enjoy. Please file a complaint with MS to petition for an "off" button for this travesty. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
