May 17, 200620 yr I used Bob's research for the flap settings for the hard wing until something else comes along. 15 degrees seems to be a good setting for takeoff. It's a little less than half flap. The leading edge slates float. If you were to touch them on the ground they are supposed to move freely without any drag from an actuation mechanism. They are meant to deploy from aerodynamic forces on the wing, if I remember correctly, as the center of pressure moves forward and aft on top of the wing as the angle of attack changes. For flight sim they had to be hooked to the flap accuation. {Flaps.0} <-----------square bracketstype= 1span-outboard= 0.500extending-time= 1.000system_type= 1damaging-speed= 260.000blowout-speed= 250.000lift_scalar= 0.700drag_scalar= 0.650pitch_scalar= 1.020flaps-position.0= 0.000, 0.000flaps-position.1= 15.0, 0.000flaps-position.2= 38.0, 0.000
May 17, 200620 yr RE "By the way, take a look at the fuel tank loads in the F-86A cfg file when you get a chance; Fuel Ctr 300, Left Main 200, Right Main 300.And even with full tanks It's never yawed to the right. Strange"There is something strange going on here since the CG symbol in the flight sim's fuel & payload is at the nose of the airplane instead of over the wing someplace. It's almost like the CG symbol was being used as datum for measurements.I have noticed that when I flare on landing there is a pronounced tendency to drift off the centerline. Everything has to be just right to keep it on the runway. The only time that I experienced this before was when my cfg for the DC-3 got screwed up. When I replaced the DC-3 cfg all was well from then on for the landing flare.
May 17, 200620 yr Author My FS9 fuel page shows the following in difference to yours: R&L Aux= 803.9 lbs. each L&R Tanks = 1674.8 lbs each Center = 917.8 lbs The CG symbol is as is yours, at the nose of the plane. When I'm landing, I notice a drift if I'm applying rudder, but can keep on the runway just by slight banking without rudder. I use the rudder only at the last moment if I'm 'crabbing' due to the winds.
